Review summary
Everyone loves the islands and their splendid beaches and that I did enjoy. When it comes to my voyage I wasn't mention to bring my groceries, water, cokes, snacks etc. Yet they forgot I was going to be eating the same food at the buffet. For that there's one place and we know where to go everynight. Bring your best charge card cause they'll charge your service fee per guest and bring extra just in case your generous to leave more then that . By the way charge me 1000 per person but also 150 so I can drink Coke products that's a rip off.No thank youShip experiences

Bellyflop, keep on sharing your view of the world, most people appreciate your effort and courage and commend you on including your family on the cruise. Others have responded about their experience with the additional costs of cruising on 'value' cruise lines in the 2000's. The small item costs are making up for the fact that the cabin prices have not changed much in 20 years, but the overall cost is keeping up with inflation and funding the investments in ever larger ships. Bellyflop, perhaps it is time to create your own spreadsheet for your vacation options and really try to capture the true total cost of cruising or any other vacation choice. This will help in your decision making, your budgeting for the cruise, or other vacation, and will help ease the pain after the vacation when you know in advance what your choices truly cost. I have several that I can share; they are loaded with obvious and subtle vacation costs. What is not in the spreadsheet is the received value for the experience; the adventure with family, loved ones, or just new friends, the convenience, the service, the locations, and the enjoyment of the total vacation event.
If you never take a cruise again, and I hope this is not the case, but if so, what is the value for your families enjoyment of all they experienced on your cruise. It may be a bit painful now, but I can tell you our most expensive cruise, our family of 6 on an 18 day Mediterranean Cruise, with during and before cruise excursions, was financially painful. However, it remains an experience that we all still enjoy for its memories and the time we spent together on so many adventures with photographic reminders:-). Fifteen years later, I still get goosebumps thinking about standing at the doorway of the home Mary lived in after the Crucifixion of Jesus, or walking into the grave-site of thousands, and seeing the death-masks of some of those who were caught in the tragedy of Pompeii in 79 AD. With 20/20 hindsight, we would not change a thing and would do it again in a heartbeat. By contrast, today's typical Caribbean cruise, is a wonderful getaway, escape from winter, and escape from the pressures of work or the routine at home; lower cost yes, inexpensive no, but still something we look forward to with smiles and a separate budget fund to make deposits to even before the last cruise ended. Bon Voyage!
