Great first time cruise by ColinS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was our first cruise and it could not have been better. The people were friendly and very helpful and the food just kept on coming. The entertainment and activities were plentyful and excellent. The Explorer of the Seas is a 10 year old ship but you would not know it. Everything was clean and well maintained. I would strongly recommend this ship to anyone.

Treated like royalty by EfrainS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my wife and my first cruise and we loved it. We were impressed by the attentiveness of staff, especially the stateroom attendant and restaurant waiters. They make a point of knowing your names! The ship was very clean. There was entertainment at all times. Food was excellent. We would like to travel on the Explorer of the Seas again.

the cruise was mainly for senoir citizen by KenH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was very nice and in excellent condition. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was OK but not extradorinary and the 2 buffets that they had occurred without and announcement. They had a midnight buffet and a buffet in the promanade for 1 lunch but neither was announced. The entertainment was every good but there was not much of it. They usually had one show each night, shown twice but that was it. The piano music, dance music, etc all started after 9 pm. There was very little afternoon entertainment just a calypso band than played for 45 minutes every hour for 3 hours each afternoon. There were very few kids on board so the slide was only open for 2 hours per day.

Nice trip. by KatieE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was a great cruise for multiple cruisers as it has a 9 day itinerary from an easy-to-access port city. We appreciated the service from our waiter, assistant waiter and stateroom attendant. The folks who were incentivized to provide high service did so. Otherwise, this ship & team were average. The ports were ok although we enjoyed Bar Harbor immensely. The capitain made some great decisions on how to handle the ship during the hurricaine which was appreciated as well. We had recently taken a trip on the Celebrity Infinity so, by comparison, this ship was not as nice. The food was not as good and service (overall) not as good. The average age of the cruiser on this trip was upwards of 60 -- so we socialized little as this was not in our age bracket.

We felft we were in good hands, which was comforting, considering hurricaine Earl was very close! Very expensive bingo. Only four (4) games for $37.50

nice trip but not for me by OdetteE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship was really nice, but cruise is not for me. I like to explore, so I got bored fast. The good thing was that we were docked for two days and had time to explore the islands. But if you like sitting by the pool, listening to loud music and doing nothing, you will enjoy it! and one more thing regarding shopping. There is no taxes on the ship, but customs will charge you duty fees in the port when you get back. Nobody tells you that!!!!

A Great First Time by RichF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Our five day cruise to Bermuda was very enjoyable on The Explorer of the Seas ship. Our room with the balcony was nice and we really enjoyed the great food and shows that were presented on board. You could never have time to do all of the activities offered. My wife and I had a very relaxing vacation and would cruise again.

First Cruise Experience by NadiaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I sailed on the Explorer of the Seas for 5 nights to Bermuda. It was fantastic! The crew was great and so was the food. The Windjammer Cafe Buffet and the Island Grille had the best food and were included in the price. The other restaurants like Portofino, and Johnny Rockets had a cover charge. But overall it was a great cruise. There was so much to do and the island of Bermuda is gorgeous. My boyfriend and I rented a scooter and drove across the whole island in two hours and visited 3 beaches all in one day. The next day we bought roundtrip bus tickets ($8 per person) and went back to one of the beaches we visited the day before.

My first cruise and the best ever!! by ElidaR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I could not believe the variety of activities they had. And best of yet, the ship even had an ice rink! I had to see it to believe it. I especially liked that their staff were from all over the world. I met workers from our country as well as countries which we have visited. It was beyond my expectations.

SO So food, crowded and cramped. by JohnP23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Staff was overbearingly nice to the point of being intrusive. Too many extra costs. Food ranged from poor to average. Too many teens running wild at all hours. Spend more and go on a better line

Fantastic Cruise by TerryM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was very easy to get around. I wasn't that crazy about the prominade which is suppose to be like a little city. I felt that there weren't that many shops on this ship. Loved the pools especially the adult pool. The best was that nobody tried to push you to buying drinks like I have seen on other cruises.

My family and I had a wonderful cruse. by DeniseF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

My family and I (husband, two children(ages 19 & 16), and I) recently sailed on the Explorer of the Seas to Bermuda, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and San Juan. The entire trip was wonderful. We really enjoyed the ship, food, spa, gym, pool, activities, and entertainment. A special thanks for the Ice Skating show. It was fantastic. I would highly recommend this cruise to other family and friends. This cruise saved us a flight because It was conveniently located in driving proximity of our personal residence. All of the ship staff were polite and courteous. They really work hard. Our Room steward, "Manuel" was top notch. He kept our room and our children's room in tip top shape. Our wait staff for My Time Dinning, Beatrice and Alex we excellent. They couldn't do enough to accommodate our family during our meals. We used the Winjammer buffet for our breakfast and lunch. They had a great selection the food met our expectations, and the service was great. Although the ship was not new it was well kept and clean. Overall this made a great surprise for my husband's birthday and a memorable trip for everyone.

Wonderful experience by LisaM15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This ship was smaller than other Royal Caribbean ships we'd been on in the past but the service, cleanliness and overall professionalism and friendliness of the crew was outstanding. They even sang happy birthday to my 4 year old in Johnny Rockets and made her feel like the center of the universe. The giant sundae didn't hurt either. Our wait staff was wonderful and fun. Our stateroom attendant was always having fun with our kids and overall our experience was absolutely wonderful.

Our cruise experience by LaurieK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship itself is huge and beautiful. The shops are somewhat limited and the food in the sit-down dining room was very uneven -- sometimes it was great, others it was quite poor. Lounge chairs fill up fast and the staff doesn't really control "saving" while passengers leave. We observed very poor behavior by a very few passengers who tossed other people's belongings onto the deck because they were left on their lounge chair even tho' they had left for more than the 30 min. limit.
