Review summary

This was a great cruise for multiple cruisers as it has a 9 day itinerary from an easy-to-access port city. We appreciated the service from our waiter, assistant waiter and stateroom attendant. The folks who were incentivized to provide high service did so. Otherwise, this ship & team were average. The ports were ok although we enjoyed Bar Harbor immensely. The capitain made some great decisions on how to handle the ship during the hurricaine which was appreciated as well. We had recently taken a trip on the Celebrity Infinity so, by comparison, this ship was not as nice. The food was not as good and service (overall) not as good. The average age of the cruiser on this trip was upwards of 60 -- so we socialized little as this was not in our age bracket.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dinner in the dining room was the best of the entire ship. We also liked the specialty restaurant. Other meals were mediocre.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the ice show on the sea day. The shows were variable but we enjoyed the guitar player in the lounge.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We liked our stateroom attendant and waiter who went above and beyond several times during the trip.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Our room was fine. We were in a junior suite. It was not noted in the book that our view was limited but it was ok. We also noted that many public areas (especially restrooms) were dirty. Other public spaces were fine.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Nice size to the junior suite. We also enjoy the balcony as well.

Ports of call

Portland, Maine

We took a lighthouse tour which was just "ok." We wished we had just wandered the town as we liked it a lot.
Don't Miss: Vervacious spice shop

Halifax, Nova Scotia

We went to Peggy's Cove. This was our least favorite tour (over an hour drive each way.) THere is a cute place for gingerbread at Peggy's Cove there if you go. We spent 10 minutes at the cemetary for the Titanic victims which was sad but historic.
Don't Miss: Walk around downtown (which is cute)

Bar Harbor, Maine

We LOVED this pot and wished we spent more time. We did the bike tour of Acadia which was AWESOME! We wished we had time to also do the sea kayaking there. The town was cute and had a great ice cream place (Bill and Ben's.) We will return to Bar Harbor in the future.
Don't Miss: Acadia National Park carriage trails

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
We did the sea kayaking/lobster bake which was very nice. We got pretty wet (and a bit cold) due to the waves but the scenery was very nice. The guides were great and the lobster bake was fun too. Reversing falls were under-whelming.
Don't Miss: Sea Kayaking trip

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
We love Boston and have vacationed there in the past.
Don't Miss: Freedom Trail and Fanieul Hall

Pros: Liked Bar Harbor & outdoor excursions

Cons: Overall service/quality
