Review summary

We loved our time on Explorer of the Seas and would recommend it to anyone. P and O have a lot of growing to do, We thought the staff were well trained and looked like they enjoyed their jobs. The Captain is keeping a very happy crew we thought.

We had not issues at all even though we didn't have our luggage tags ready. All done in moments at the dock and we were on our way.

Food and Dining

We bought the three dinner package and it was wonderful. Italian, Asian and steaks all cooked and served in a gourmet restaurant. The Shaphire Resaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner. We ate at Windjammer for lunch and some breakfasts. The food was always of a high quality. My only minor complaint might be that the clearing of tables during the busy periods was sometimes a bit slow.

Entertainment

Throughly enjoyed the ice skating show! Wow! Loved the man who did the first adult comedy show. He was clever and funny without using thousands of 4 letter words. We enjoyed the shows too. The pianist and the guitarist were world class. We loved them.

Service and Staff

We thought the staff were first class and we would have done 5 stars except for the young woman on the excursion desk who was surly and almost rude. The trips we wanted were booked out and we felt she was being put out when we wanted to know what trips were available. She was really snotty when one of our party was too ill to go on a trip and we asked about onselling his ticket. Bobby our cabin attendant was second to none! Our wait staff were excellent too.

Cabin / Stateroom

We were totally happy with our cabin and Bobbys service. If I had one issue, it would be that the linen is a nylon product. Which it looked great, it was really hot. We didn't like the quality of the bed linen.

Ship tip

Bring layers for the cold and bring some smart clothes for the great nights out. Buy the drinks package if you like a drink, it covered everything we wanted, it was paid before we left home and it was convenient.
