My first cruise. Beyond expectations! Great experience-Eurodam is a fine ship and the staff was friendly and efficient. Accomodations were comfortable (Veranda stateroom). Just wish we had more time in each port.

Review summary

Overall a wonderful experience. Just wish there had been more time in ports to do more exploring. Really enjoyed the days we were at sea because it provided some much needed down time between excursions.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth. We arrived earlier than scheduled but did not have to wait. As soon as the crew was on board we were allowed to board. We booked through Inspiration Cruises and their representatives were there and saw that we received VIP treatment.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I enjoyed the buffets because of the variety. Very tasty and the area was extremely clean. Timing was essential-best to eat early or after your normal meal time or finding seating was difficult. Enjoyed the dining room experience- food was tasty and varied. Portions size was appropriate, not over-sized.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
We did not take in on-board activities other than those associated with Chuck Swindoll's Insight for Living Ministry. The remainder of our time was spent on excursions.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
While we did not see any of the ship's entertainment, we immensely enjoyed the entertainment provided through Inspuration Cruises.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent! Very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and fresh.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I enjoyed the balcony cabin very much. The views were fantastic. I was amazed at the amount of closet space for our clothes and the luggage stored nicely under the bed. Plenty of bathroom space and I was so glad there was a tub! I enjoyed a nice long soak! The only downfall was lack of sitting space, but we spent so little time in the cabin that did not become an issue.

Ship tip

Don't overpack. Use the laundry service. While the laundry bags are small, I was able to get two pair of jeans, underwear for several days, and several shirts in the bag. They offered special by the bag pricing. I paid $20 for what amounted to about 4 or 5 days of outfits. Very reasonable.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We spent extra time in Seattle after disembarkation. Many places to visit (Pike Place, Space Needle, Chilhuly Glass and Gardens). Wish we had more time there, so much to see.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Toured Tracey Arm Fjiord and Sawyer Glacier. Informative tour, saw my first ice bergs, black bears, Stellar sea lions, hump back whales. Long day, but enjoyable.

Sitka, Alaska

3 out of 5
We did two excursions-a 4x4 safari and tour of historic Sitka. The 4x4 outing was exhilarating and fun. Beautiful scenery and saw brown bears and deer. Enjoyed the tour guide-very informative. The tour of Sitka was disappointing because it was not very well conducted. Holland America could work on this one. Because of choices the driver made, the tour was rushed and we got back to port with minutes to spare before ship sailed.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed Ketchikan! Excursion was a crab feast and water tour. Never had crab and beer for breakfast before! Tour guide was cheerful and added much to the tour.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
We did not visit Victoria while in port. Rather, we went back there from Seattle. Spent the day touring Victoria, Butterfly Garden and Butchart Gardens. No words. Absolutely one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Relatively easy! Easy to leave ship, no problem finding luggage in the warehouse.
