What an amazing ship, crew and vacation. I have been on multiple cruises with other cruise lines and will not go back after going on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I am a dedicated Royal Caribbean traveler now!

Unhappy cruiser by browningrl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

this was my first cruise on RCCL

first the pluses: check-in was very quick and easy, had wheelchair assistance and a very friendly porter; everyone on the ship we encountered was very friendly except for the sales staff in perfumes and cosmetics; our room steward, room service wait staff and the wait staff in the dining venues were very attentive and made this the most pleasant part of the cruise.

now for the negatives: I had made arrangements for a scooter to be delivered to the stateroom and when we got to the room it was there but we had no available outlets, for medical reasons we need access to 5 outlets at night, it took me until 11 pm that night after talking to 4 different departments to get enough extension cords to recharge everything -- when we cruise Holland American with same requirements we had the extension cords delivered and the maintenance staff taped down all the extension cords for safety -- had no such luck or experience with this cruise.

we had to have an accessible cabin and we were placed on deck 2, just a warning - the beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in and I have cruised in US, Caribbean, Europe, Russia and others and these beds consisted of a very thin and lumpy mattress resting on a metal bed frame.  The other issue was the odor in the bathroom, we had brought air freshner but ran out of that by the second day, used our Shalimar and Chanel when we had to be in the bathroom, there was a constant smell of sewage,,maybe because we were on 2nd deck?

Room service was very timely but had an extremely limited menu, also when we ordered coffee and hot tea they would bring one cup, we borrowed another cup from the buffets

when we left the ship we needed wheelchair assistance, as a result we were the next to the last people to leave the ship.

Good luck, don't ask for accessible cabin, bring extra air freshener and extension cords if you need them and don't accept a cabin on deck 2.Sad

2nd cruise with Royal C! by twoberrys03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We love cruising with RCI! Classy and professional. All of the crew are friendly and want to make sure you enjoy yourself. The food in the main dinning room was only "great" on formal night. Other nights the steaks were overdone and everything lacked seasoning. We loved the new touch screen maps of the ship located near the elevators, very helpful! We highly reccomend Royal!

O.K. over all by darmstrongm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We booked close to the departure date for a discounted rate and once on board found out there would be no assigned seating for dinner. This presented issues we were unfamiliar with and frankly didn't care for. The over all experience satisfied us for the price we paid but we would certainly confirm seating arrangements in the future.

A Magnificent Cruise by Anniejw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a very nice cruise. We just needed a quick getaway and this hit the spot! Food was great and the whole staff was wonderful. We were celebrating our anniversary so it was very special. We did not take any excursions since we have been here several times before but the much needed rest was a definite welcome. Though we have been on this trip before on Majesty, unfortunately it was right after Hurricane Charlie in. 2004 and 2005 we we not able to get on Coco Cay, so we were very happy to be able to visit the island. It is indeed a beautiful island. I would recommend this cruise and ship to anyone who wants a quick getaway and relaxation. By the way the shows, comedians, and singers were awesome. Kudos to the cruise activities director.

Good Weekend by melm116

All went well and was a good cruise for a 3 niter.  Did not like the baggage handler who doesn't know the word thank you and although I over tipped, will make it a point next time to underlip for the same response. You also don't get the feeling that when you have prepaid gratuities, that the people that should know that information seem to be looking for more or are not informed that they have already been taken care of.

Nice Short Cruise by huongdnguyen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Since it was our 1st cruise, we chose a shorter cruise on Enchantment.  Overall the cruise was nice and  the ship was clean with all the amenities.

We had nice sailing weather and did not get sea sick.  Food was just OK.  The main dining had different themes each night which kept the menu different. You could order as much as you want. Sleeping quarters were really small but the kids loved sleeping on the drop down beds from above.  There were many activities to do and choose from however we did not participate in all since we just wanted to relax and listening to music with a mix drink.  There were plenty of alcoholic drinks, but it was expensive.

My only complaint was the smell of the bathrooms.  It seems like the rooms share a common sewage line and every once in a while it would smell sooooooo bad.  Thankfully the staff worked hard to keep the smell under control.

Otherwise the short vacation went well and we were happy with our 1st experience.  The family will definitely cruise again.

Great cruise experience by dennisrafferty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We loved this cruise!  My wife is recovering from a broken leg, so

we chose a smaller ship.  It worked out great.  All of the staff was very

helpful (especially the Dining room Head waiter) The only question was

that the television had no user friendly way to tally your bill as I have used

in the past.  I was told that it was only available on larger ships.  Maybe time for

an upgrade?

Enchantment by jimcolon

This cruise is more geared toward couples.  I would not recommend for children as they will quickly get bored, but for couples it is fine.  It's for the couple that wants to relax.  Compared to other Royal Caribbean cruises it's definitely not as good as the bigger ships offer so much more.  On the other hand, if you would like to relax and enjoy a smooth sailing ship then this would be fine.  The shows are fine as well.

Had a great time! by bobbyhamilton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The room was cozy, clean & affordable for our first cruising experience. The private island remains our favorite part of the trip. Service & food were off the charts! Cajatan & Vaca in My fair Lady made our dining experience excellent!  Joel our porter took great care of us all week. Did not enjoy Nassau, went back to the ship. Freeport was a little more enjoyable, less chaos but similar, too cheezy. Would loved to have just gone back to Cococay.  Overall convinced us to try this again sometime:)

A Memory Maker by afuah52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

This was a terrific cruise. Lots of adult entertainment. My husband and I enjoyed the piano bar and solarium. The nightly shows were well done...music, song, dance & the costumes. The comedy night and magic act were superb. Our room steward Floyd Williams was exceptional. I took a scrapbook and card making class which was wonderful.

Enjoyable, inexpensive, restful vacation - weather was beautiful, and cruiseship didn't seem to busy or crowded.  We particularly appreciate the solarium and nearby cafe.

Summer Cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas by dblt13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This cruise was an acceptable experience.  I was cruising with my 16 year old daughter as a "girl's getaway."  We booked a junior suite for the additional space.  The suite was well-appointed, however looked tired and dated. and a bit of cleanliness was lacking.  We did enjoy the larger balcony as we were on the back of the ship.  The shower leaked terribly every time we used it, and from the looks of the caulking, this had been happening for quite a while.  Dinner in My Fair Lady was fair, not the same quality of food that I had experienced in the past on RCCL.  The food in WIndjammer was ok if you managed to go at a time when there were not a 1000 people all trying to get to the buffet at the same time.  I ordered the same drink each day and found it to be at 3 different prices in 3 different bars, which did not make sense to me.  Overall, it was an OK experience, but most likely will try a newer ship next time.

Pleasantly Surprised by FourGatorFans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Celebrated a friends 40th and had the best time. Great food, drinks, and entertainment. Excellent service and a clean ship. Our server, asst. waiter, and cabin steward were fantastic. We sailed previously on Monarch of the Seas out of Port Canaveral a few years ago and were pleasantly surprised at the major improvements all around on Enchantment.

DIRTY TIRED SHIP, avoid like the Plaque by WellTRAVELLEDhr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

From the moment we arrived, it was clear most Crew were uninterested. We were told as we exited the gangway into the atrium, your rooms are ready…they were not (not a big deal but the start of the worst Cruise experience we have ever encountered)

We have been sailing with RCCL since 1985, our first Ship being Song Of Norway,we are Diamond Plus members regularly sailing with this Cruise line, so we are not making our comments based on no knowledge of general standards expected from RCCL.

Windjammer (the casual dining venue open for new arrivals) was unclean, tables were dirty, staff were very slow in cleaning them up, Hot food was actually cold, we are busy seemed the stock excuse/reason when we questioned staff why…the hand sanitisers (1st day) were actually empty!…Our room when ready was FILTHY, no other word for it, we complained, eventually got a n Officer responsible for deck operations to come and see it, he agreed it was well below standard and had it deep cleaned (the detrius was NOT from the last Cruise, it looked as though it had been accumulating for MONTHS) our bathrooms stank of sewerage ALL THREE DAYS, nothing was done to sort that out. The bed did not have a mattress cover and was as hard as iron…perhaps because (unlike most other Cruise lines) the mattress was not on a Box, but simply on a sheet of metal!…The Royal Family Suite was the accomodation category, so if this is how RCCL look after Suite guests, God help the rest.NO Sweet Dreams chocolate at Turn Down, No famous towel animals during Cruise.

Our serveres at Dinner on 1st night were very good, shame the food wasn't. We tried CHOPS, their speciality restaurant on night 2, again the server was good, the food however was not up to the standard of other RCCL Chops Grills. 3rd night dining experience was POOR…not one evening was there a fillet or Lobster choice (without extra charge) whereas there always used to be.

The adult pool in Spa was dirty, there was excrement in it on 2 seperate occasions.

The Private island experience was very disappointing, there are NO no smoking areas, so non smokers (who I assume make up the majority these days) were subject to smoke from people using sun beds upwind, let alone those sitting next to you. The beach was poor and the Sea was full of natural detritus, unlike Castaway Cay (Disneys island) but similar to Labadee, RCCL previous island.

Trying to get service for soft drinks was impossible except by going to The Bar and waiting there…however, if you wanted alcohol, the waiters were frequent and plentiful (one wonders why)

Do not book a room on Deck 8…you will be kept awake until 2am by noise from above.

Disembarkation was poor, compared to other Cruise lines at Port Canaveral, we took the carry off option and were still held up for 45 minutes…why? who knows, perhaps RCCL wanted to ensure we had a DISNEY experience, standing in line waiting, however, they should know Disney Cruise Line does not have a long wait line to get off….perhaps the line was caused by all the disgruntled guests trying to get off as quick as possible, who knows!

My advice is, IF you want a good 3 day cruise to the Bahamas…use another ship, this really was a nightmare experience and one we are not in a hurry to repeat.

My Review of "Enchantment of the Seas" cruise by janmrwalter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Great get-a-way ... but too many kids the week we traveled.  Loved the relaxed atmosphere ... food was OK (Chops was excellent but I hate to pay extra for food when we've already paid for the cruise food); extra charge if you wanted lobster (never used to be that way); the staff of the ship mostly was pleasant and wanted to please or be of service (our cabin steward, servers at dinner).

The bathroom was VERY small, but otherwise the room was OK for what we paid.

We would do this cruise again if the price was right!!!

Jam Packed by astroh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cannot believe that ONE cabin steward can handle so many cabins in such an efficient manner. He was FANTASTIC. The dining room service was equally great. Never seen such courtesy on any cruise line. FOOD. What can I say other than it was fabulous! The variety, the quality, the presentation, the fact that it arrived in front of you HOT, etc.,etc.. Even the variety in the Windjammer was outstanding.

So what were the cons? DO NOT GET CABINS 8545, 8547, 8045, 8047, 8039 or 8539. The first four listed have a bar storeroom directly above and they are working ALL night dropping heavy boxes and wheeling noisy carts on a tile floor. NO SLEEP! The other two are adjacent to the stairs and if there are teenagers on board, watch out as they love to jump down four or five stairs at a time! Ship was jam packed so there was nothing that could be done. Unfortunately, we did not realize and chose the week before school started so there were 666 kids (that is correct) on board with little to ZERO parental control. All things being considered the staff did a remarkable job. I still rate RCCL as the best cruise line having traveled on them 8 times with Holland America a close second. This was our 18th cruise and three more planned this year.

Good service; old and tired facilities. by happyVacation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The service was great.  The food is so so, especially at Windjammer's.  My Fair Lady's food is hit or miss.   The fish dishes tasted rubbery, and steak was either really tender and juicy or tough as rubber on another day.  The best place to grab a quick meal is really Park Cafe, especially their roast beef sandwich.  Most of the public area is showing its age but the crew does its best to maintain it well.  The pool is very small; it does not have those slides that RC commercials have on TV.  The port stops were at Coco Cay (private island that got really crowded with all cruise ship guests; pretty island though), Nassau (Atlantis was way over priced and not worth it in my opinion; the rides on any Six Flags or Wet and Wild are much better and varied), and Grand Bahamas (really wasn't that much to do; we went to Taino beach for a few hours, which was a tourist trap...) The shows were decently entertaining.  Overall, it was just OK...  If you get a good deal on the price, it's not a bad way to vacation.
