A great cruise overall. One of many lifetime cruises I wanted to take (atlantic crossing) with great European ports to stop off at.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was very quick and smooth. We stayed in Newark overnight, took earliest hotel shuttle and was able to check in, get our room all before our 11am appointment. Received a warm welcome from the crew when we arrived.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We had a great experience in the MDR and Windjammer buffet. The food was always delicious and served with great care. The pizza from park Cafe was also great. Had it most nights of the cruise.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I mostly did trivia for daytime activity. It was great meeting new people in my team. My disappointment was the lack of prizes for the daily trivia.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
My review was for the stage shows. My brother and I enjoyed the entertainment every night whether it on-board singers and dancers or from the guest entertainers. Very impressive for such a small Royal carribbean Ship
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service from our waiters and room steward was top notch as we expect from Royal Caribbean. Our waiters in the MDR ensured that our we received our orders promptly and ensured our water glasses were filled. They were very friendly and offered great suggestions every night. Our room steward was very helpful, retrieving us bathrobes, extra towels and ice bucket.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was clean and well-maintained, especially for a ship over 20 years old. No complaints here.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The room was beyond expectations. We only booked a guaranteed outside cabin with possible obstruction, but was pleasantly surprised with the window size and amount of daylight we actually got. Very good choice for the ocean crossing cruises
We took a tour featuring Nice and the nearby town of Eze. In Nice we saw its famous local market, Promenade des anglais and fountain de soleil. In Eze we saw a former medieval castle with its exteriors left in tact to view.
Now in Marseilles, France. We took a tour from the ship featuring two towns in Provence, Aix and Marseilles which provide a great contrast between small and large towns in France. Aix was the small town representative and also former capital of Provence, so we got to see some get historical buildings and a smaller urban landscape. Marseilles is much bigger, modern city with many sites to see as well. A great tour overall.
Another beautiful port, this time in Spain. Took another shore excursion from the ship. We saw amazing sites in Malaga including its famous bullfighting from the ground and from above as we also stopped at a site in the hills where we could look at the city below.
We took a tour from the ship featuring Pisa and Florence. Perfect amount of time in each as Pisa has one main attraction (leaning tower) and much more in Florence . Due to the distance from the port, a delicious pasta lunch in Florence was included.
This was where we boarded the ship. We had the first embarkation appointment, and we were able to board as soon as the hotel shuttle brought us to the port. Very smooth embarkation.
