We loved this cruise and would highly recommend it to anybody with the time. The first 7 days was spent decompressing from work and relaxing on the boat at sea. This gave us ample time to read, watch movies and tv shows and talk. The last half was spent exploring 4 different european countries and was very enjoyable. It was a great mix off relaxing and exploring vacationing and was my favorite vacation ever
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were able to walk onboard very early with essentially no line at the terminal. Our cabins were available at the time we boarded since the ship had sailed empty from Baltimore to Newark so we immediately went there to relax and unpack
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the main dining room experience and had excellent wait staff and service. Our food was always brought out hot and the servers were extremely personable and remembered our preferences. The buffet was also very good and we really enjoyed the secret taco / mexican food bar in the back corner. We never tried chops but did enjoy the pizza and options in the Solarium and the sandwiches from the cafe. We didn't like the limited selection of restaurants, but for the size of the ship it was good.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Extremely limited outdoor activites, the rock climbing wall was only open a few times and is mostly only for very fit exercise people, they had ping pong tables without paddles and balls and shuffleboard areas I never saw in use. There was likely a way to request paddles and shuffleboard stuff, but it was not apparent or posted. The pools were excellent and there are many of them, we were sad that the only indoor pool was adults only since our daughter was unable to swim for most of the trip because of poor outdoor weather conditions.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We attended about half the shows and most were good although nothing unique are excellent. The onboard musicians were talented and we enjoyed listening to them throughout the ship. There are outdoor movies every night, but the weather made them not possible to attend. We would have preferred an afternoon Matinee in the Orpheum theater when it isn't in use
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Our daughter loved the kids club and begged to be there as much as possible. The staff were excellent to her and treated her very well. Couldn't recommend it more for a 4 year old
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All were extremely personable and the best we've had on a ship
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean and clearly maintained. While onboard all the hallway carpets were switched to brand new ones and we saw crews doing maintenance on various parts of the ship such as the railings and walkways. They clearly take pride in this older ship and want it to look good.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Size was great and the window was very large with perfect view of the ocean. The room does have an ajoining door although the other room was very quiet so no noise complaints from that. The bathroom was older and starting to get worn out on the fixtures and some of the light switches didn't work great. Biggest complaint is that in the mornings when the upper deck was washed off the drain pipe ran right through the exterior wall causing quite a lot of running water and dripping noise that was distracting in the mornings and very loud.
Ship tip
In the morning and evening the spotlight lounge is mostly empty and has some of the best views on the ship with some secluded corners. Loved going there to watch movies or tv shows on my ipad with incredible views.
Our favorite port, beautiful weather, lovely city and amazing landscapes. Hired a private tuk tuk driver for 6 hours apart from the ship who took us all around the island and to many local only places 10/10
Great port, there are many nearby options to expore. We walked to the train station and took a 20 minute very cheap train ride through the Cinque Terre citys and explored them on foot. They are picturesque and easy enough to do in one day. 100% recommend
Port is extremely far from Rome and requires a costly shuttle to get there. You can take the train, but with luggage that is inconvenient. Rome is an incredible city to explore and would take a minimum of 7 days to do right
