Review summary

Perfect way to relax after the busyness of the holidays.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very easy and quick. We stayed at the Best Western on O’Donnell St. and did their cruise and park program. The hotel then shuttled us to the pier. From arrival to pier to on the ship was less than 15 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food on this ship was excellent. Food in the MDR was always served fresh and hot. Variety in the main dishes was lacking, but delicious nonetheless. One thing I did miss was the flavored waters they used to have like the strawberry kiwi and mango water. They did not have that on this ship which was very disappointing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was something for everyone, but all I really wanted to do was relax with my books on the upper decks. I used the fitness center everyday and was pleased that every time I went, I practically had the whole thing to myself. I’ve learned to time going to the gym to late morning, early afternoon.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We had a Céline Dion tribute performer and she was very good and I really enjoyed the jazz performance in the Schooner Bar. I’m not much for comedians, but my son said the comedian was ok.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always on the smaller ships, the service was outstanding.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is showing its age. I wish RC would really refurbish these smaller ships so they can continue to sail out of the smaller ports like Baltimore. This ship had a lot paint coming off on the outside and our stateroom was really dated. They continue to use mattresses that are as hard as concrete, but I was prepared this trip by bringing my own memory foam mattress topper which was a huge help!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I’m not a fan of inside cabins, but this was a last minute budget trip. The cabin was adequate, but dated. Like I mentioned before, I brought my own memory foam mattress topper which helped tremendously with bed comfort. I would not pick this location again as we were directly under the stage of the theater and it was quite noisy late into the night.

Ship tip

This is an old ship. If you are looking for bells and whistles, this is not the ship for you. However, it’s great if you are looking to just relax and get away from it all.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Cocoa Beach was blah. The Cocoa Beach Pier is practically all closed, so it was not worth going there.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
Pleasantly surprised by how nice this port was. We did ‘Resort For A Day’ here at Lighthouse at Grand Lucayan resort. The resort was spotless and food was flavorful. Ocean was crystal clear and relatively warm for January. Had a great day here.

Charleston, South Carolina

Visited Fort Sumter. Had an amazing day.

Baltimore, Maryland

On and off port.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Always a good time here. Had a cabana at Chill Island. Loved it. There were 2 ships here, but the island was not crowded where we were.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We did self assist. Despite the long line getting off the ship proper, the whole process was 25 minutes from ship to shuttle!
