Review summary

All in all, we had an amazing time! It was a lot cooler than I expected and super windy so gazing at the stars wasn’t an option. Food at the main dining places are edible but next time I will get the all inclusive dining package. Be prepared to meet amazing people on your ship and make new friends from different countries and even the next town over!! The bluest water I’ve ever seen in the ports was worth it all to me!

Embarkation

We parked at EZ Parking and were able to get to port quickly. Lines everywhere making sure you are checked in as quickly as possible. Make sure and have all your documents ready and it makes the process so much more smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Ben and Jerry/Latte-Tudes

3 out of 5

Coffee was hot or miss. We usually got lattes and I like a double shot of vanilla in mine. Once it was super sweet, second and third time it was ok, and the last was straight up burnt coffee. I guess they’re rushed to get ready for the next cruisers..

Windjammer Cafe

3 out of 5

Gluten free selection was hard bread on most days, bacon and eggs for breakfast, lunch meat, and mashed potatoes.. got old quick for me.Husband loved it though! Good selection of food although he said he got some old bread too.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

Best place to get a drink! Quiet and the bartender would go out of his way to make you feel comfortable!

Solarium with Solarium Bar

4 out of 5

Warmest place on the ship when it was soooo windy and cool outside!!

Room Service

RC needs to add some more. Never even got a chance to get in one.

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

Food was excellent! We scheduled after a sushi making class for one night. And it was worth it! My husband had a filet steak and I went with our waiter’s recommendation and got the New York strip. HUGE steak. The truffle fries are amazing.. the waiter Ronaldo is fantastic. He was attentive and has amazing stories! Next time we cruise we are getting the dining package. It is sooo worth it!

My Fair Lady Dining Room

4 out of 5

Food was ok.. the effort that went into presenting it and making sure your experience was memorable is why I’m giving 4 stars. Our waitress Shuzhun and waiter Iputu were awesome! I have a dietary restriction and Shuzhun made sure that I was taken care of.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The few hot tubs were always too full so we never got in one and it was a bit chilly for the pool.

Casino Royale

4 out of 5

Decent payouts and fun little tournaments. Kept clean although everyone fought for ash trays. The director did well at keeping people happy and working with what seemed to be an extremely old operating system on the slot machines.

Entertainment

Orpheum Theater

The boat was really rolling on the waves and the production dancers did amazing at maintaining their balance and moves! Comedian was really funny too!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff on this ship is amazing! The gentleman that maintained our room was super sweet and made little towel animals whenever my husband left his sunglasses in the room. Maiwun was thorough and always helpful to us new cruise people! However if you weren’t drinking alcohol, it was difficult to get a waiter to help you. Some would almost toss a glass of water at your table and just walk away.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout was simple and made everything easy to find. It is an older ship but the staff did a super job of making sure everything is clean and well kept. The room was small but totally live able! The first day however, I was checking out the bathroom and shower and when I turned the shower on the sprayer came off the holder and I had to wrestle it! Sprayed me and the whole bathroom! It was a great time! 😆

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Small but kept clean and had ample storage. Bed was pretty hard and the shower is small but gets you clean. The water is super hard and doesn’t get very hot. Except for out of the sink. My biggest complaint is the height of the sink. I had to stand on my tiptoes to brush my teeth.

Ship tip

Be prepared and use the schedule planner on the Royal Caribbean app! Turn off auto time adjust on your phone and make sure you are on ship time.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Private Jeep excursion/tour booked through Cozumel Shore Excursions. Price was cheap and we went all over the island! Didn’t care to go on the tequila tasting tour but it was informational. Then they try to sell you expensive bottles of it.. I said I did not want to go on this and the guide took us there anyways. There was some military or policia running around with ARs in town.. gave the husband and I a bit of a scare but the locals are just used to it. Other than that, the tour was great! Don’t make eye contact with vendors you don’t want to buy from or learn to run really fast!!

Galveston, Texas

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We book outside of the cruise and went to Nacional Beach Club. Pricey but worth it. I could’ve stared at the water alllll day!

Disembarkation

Galveston had the port closed late due to weather and we were all shuffled single file, carrying our luggage, for almost 3 hours around the ship to get us all off. Poor contingency plan on Royal Caribbean’s part...
