Great food, excellent service. A bit noisy at times, but I think that’s just a matter of personal taste.

Food and Dining

The food was delicious and abundant, whether we wanted a late night snack or dinner or breakfast in the main dining room or lunch in the Windjammer. The staff made it all the more enjoyable.
Onboard Activities

I LOVED the Solarium and the pool deck. These were my favorite places. However, something that diminished my enjoyment was the stupid movie they played on the giant screen at 10am on Sunday. We were due to arrive at our first port of call at 12:30 and I was really looking forward to a relaxing time on deck, reading and sunbathing after breakfast. Instead, for some reason I will never be able to fathom, there was a very non-relaxing violent movie blaring at a ridiculous decibel level, chock full of profanity and guns firing. Not family friendly at all. It was irritating and intrusive...I know I can’t be the only person who was bothered by this.
Entertainment

I probably am not the best person to rate these things as my husband and I didn’t care a bit about any shows or entertainment. We just wanted to relax. I felt like the contests on deck were an intrusion to that end, and I was glad when it was just the reggae band playing. Maybe in future a cruise isn’t the best option for us, because we like peace and quiet, or just background music lol. I could do without the frat party atmosphere on the pool deck when they started up those contests. The reggae band was by far the best entertainment of the trip. Loved them for sure.
Service and Staff

Ary our room steward was fantastic. He always called us by name with a cheerful greeting and a wish for a fun day. Idewa and John were our waiter team in the dining room and were great. They were prompt, entertaining, and attentive.
Ship Quality

EOS may be an older ship, with dated decor, but everything was super clean and maintained. I keep seeing people making complaints about rust everywhere but that’s a total exaggeration. There’s rust where you expect to see rust on a floating hotel in SALT WATER. But it’s not alarming or a sign of poor maintenance. The layout is easy to navigate, probably because it’s a smaller cruise ship. Overall, I loved it and wished our cruise lasted longer!
Cabin / Stateroom

I requested a mattress pad before the cruise because I’d heard the beds were firm on this ship. When we got to our cabin, I was delighted to find a memory foam pad already on our bed. It was soooo comfortable, and that’s huge coming from someone very picky about such things! The linens were luxurious and I slept like a baby. Our cabin was small but cozy and comfortable. Tiny shower and bathroom, but it got the job done lol. Everything was very clean. Lots of storage drawers.
Ship tip
Bring noise canceling headphones if you are sensitive to a loud noisy atmosphere, but still want to enjoy being outside on the pool deck.
Didn’t do any shopping, just took a taxi straight to the beach club. We went to Playa Mia and had a great time. Albert took care of us with drinks and the buffet had some really good selections. there was plenty to do: lay out, paddle boats, jet skis, floating on a raft in the turquoise water, and those giant two person floating tricycles haha. I love people watching and it was clear that this is a kid friendly beach club. They had those giant inflatables in the water and kids were having a blast! There’s plenty of shade if you want to just relax with a book. Clean bathrooms. My husband and I really enjoyed this excursion.
It was pretty, but the beach excursion was crowded and you really couldn’t turn around without someone trying to sell you cigars/weed/various cheap souvenirs.
There were issues outside of Royal Caribbean’s control, such as fog delaying arrival back to Galveston’s port, and the gangways not being operational. Those two things were major complications. Since they had to herd people across an industrial work zone to the terminal, it was a logistical nightmare making sure people didn’t get run over by heavy machinery as they crossed to the terminal. I feel they could have been a bit more organized staggering groups to disembark, but they were doing their best trying to appease irritated passengers. Overall, it wasn’t that bad.
Celebrity, which is a branch of Royal Caribbean caters to a quieter, older demographic. We love Celebrity when traveling just as a couple. U fortunately it doesn’t go out of Galveston. Well worth a try.
I’m booked on this ship for a 9 day Bermuda cruise in August 2021 and it will be my first on RCL so I appreciated your feedback. I also wanted to suggest that you try one of the carnival ships with the adult only pools at the back. Legend, Pride, Miracle or Splendor. 10 of us cruises on the Pride with no kids and we had a very lovely time. It was in June but there was plenty of adult only spaces to relax.
