Review summary

Nice first cruise that our family took with some friends. A few were also first time cruisers. It was a great way to get used to cruising without being overwhelmed by all the stuff on the bug ships. Now I think we can move up in size and not feel overwhelmed.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
First day boarding is a beating. Takes a while to get to your stateroom. Everyone just goes to the Buffett (Windjammer) and it's chaos.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Really Sit down and buffet were like 4.5 or 4.75. food was very good

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities were ok. More for adults. this is and old ship, so there's not much available for kids. In fact our kids were often bored.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows and bands playing were good and enjoyable. Really enjoyed the vibe they gave

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
Not very good for kids. It's a small boat with not a lot of activities for them. Older kids have it a little better, but even then, they mostly just run around on their own.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Louie and Ujian at the pool bar on deck 9, and Yogi working our stateroom were fantastic.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
5 stars for cleanliness and 3 for design. Again, it's old. Laid out well, but just old and missing a few of the features you may be expecting as normal on a ship

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was about the size of a small hotel room. Very nice.

Ship tip

It's worth making time for the sit down restaurant over the buffet.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Left from here

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
Super tourist trap and the beaches aren't great. It's worth staying on the ship

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Yes, touristy, but it's pretty, the people are great and the excursions are good.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It took a long time. If you are able to pack light for the trip, then you can leave early which is nice.

We were introduced to cruising on a smaller ship as well and that was a good call. Glad you enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise, big ships are our favorite with all the activities.
