Review summary

This was a family pre-Christmas getaway for a family of 9. We all enjoyed being together and doing all the activities the ship had to offer. However, being a regular cruiser, this ship is in need of major repairs and renovation.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The process goes very quickly once you arrive at the terminal. However, once on board, everyone was sent to the Windjamer Buffet. It was packed with people. They even made announcements for guests to get up from their tables so others could eat. It was not a good introduction to the ship or the crew

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ship's dining room "My Fair Lady" was excellent. Our waiters were friendly and tried to please in every way possible. The buffet left a lot to be desired- dried out food and general "slop" looking stuff.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty of Trivia games, bingo, outside and pool activities. There's something for every age group.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The cruise director, "Susan" is fantastic. She ties the cruise together and is very funny. She really makes this cruise. The performers are good, but the quality is fair. The costumes looked old and outdated and it was very low tech. I felt like they've had that show and those costumes for a LONG time. The "Rock through the Ages" show ends in about 1990.

Children's Programs

We had kids with us but they preferred to play bingo, trivia, and outside.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Overall good. We were in a suite and supposedly had a concierge. He even sent us an introductory letter. However, when we tried to reach him, his voicemail box was full. In addition, he wasn't in the office twice at the hours he posted. Otherwise the dining service was excellent as well as the room steward.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Old and dusty. The decor was old looking, especially in our suite. The general layout was easy to follow and get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size was wonderful! The seating and balconies were excellent. The decor looked like it was out of the 1970s- old looking drapes. I love a bath and was glad to see a bath tub. However, it did not drain properly and some foul smelling water came back through the floor drain. It supposedly had been "worked on", but to no avail. The heat/cold control was just for show- it didn't make any change in the room temperature. When we arrived the room was so cold, and then two days later so hot. Maintenance had to be called each time.

Ship tip

If you love games and fun- this is for you. If you care about up to date, dining choices, and amenities- it's not

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We went to the Kennedy Space Center before the cruise on our own. It's definitely worth seeing and it's very close by.

Nassau, Bahamas

We did the Blue Lagoon Sting Ray tour and beach- wonderful. Very nice day for every age group.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island) Did not visit port

The ship was not able to go to the port due to high winds.

Disembarkation

You can carry off your luggage, but we had to haul it down a flight of stairs inside the ship. This made no sense,, but we were quickly off the ship after that.
