Review summary

This was my first RC cruise, my husband's second. I have cruised twice before with a different cruise line. We have been looking forward to this cruise for several months.  Our check-in process was very smooth and easy.  Everything went well and we were pleased with our balcony stateroom. Our luggage arrived promptly.  Our stateroom staff were all wonderful and the the servers in the dining room were very good. We especially enjoyed Marvin. He was fun and wonderful. All that said, both my husband and I were very disappointed with the entertainment options....nothing we were interested in. We did enjoy the farewell Broadway style show and the Captains party.  The quality of the food was very poor throughout the cruise.  The scrambled eggs in the buffet were obviously made from powdered eggs. The taste and consistency was very odd.  The food was for the most part, tasteless. This was the theme regardless of where we ate....dining room or buffet. We were also very disappointed that due to the weather, our second port of call was cancelled. It would have been nice if we had felt that the cruise line/crew had made an effort to make us feel a bit compensated for the loss of a day on the beach.  We will definitely sail with a different cruise line.....if there even is a next time.

Def give RC another chance! My suggestion is freedom class or oasis class. I promise you will not be disappointed. :)

I thought the crew actually did a great job of compensating. There were plenty of fun activities all day. Drink specials would have been a nice bonus tho!

Cruise line do give compensations when you miss a port that had Port fee's that they did not have to pay by missing the port.   The private island does not charge port fee's so nothing to refund.  The cruise line looses money on days when you can not go to the private Island and pay for drinks, excursions and the island gift shops since they own all of that.

The contract states that no guarantee because the #1 priority is SAFETY.  If weather is bad they can not tender in or port safely.

3 night party cruises are not a good view of the line.  3 night cruises are on old, small ships and set for a party crowd.

If RCI is not a good fit for you,  try a good Travel Agent that specializes in cruising so you can explain what your looking for so they can find the rite fit for you.  You may step down to Carnival or NCL or upgrade to Celebrity, Princess or HAL.

P.S. To other readers...... if you disagree with me of NCL and Carnival being lower level then RCI..... it is MY OPINION.... you don't like it no need to attack or be nasty as you have before.

Ummmm, the weather is not the crud lines fault.

...cont'd. most of the lines which explains the lack of any meaningful compensation for not making a port of call. If you read the contract it warns that there is no guarantee for the itinerary. It is of interest how the dramatic slide in world oil prices hasn't been reflected in the cruise prices.

Unfortunately, the basis for your disappointment is becoming all too common to all the mass market cruise lines. "Buying" customers with relatively low prices has had a negative impact on the quality of the food, the entertainment, condition of cabin furnishings and, in some instances, service - particularly issues with plumbing and air conditioning. The old concept of loyalty has been foregone by
