Review summary

Beautiful ship, Leave your children at home, be careful choosing a cabin, prepare yourself for possible long waits, be sure to see all the shows, relax and have fun. The new Medallion app fixes some issues of old app bout the "find your shipmates" does not have a green line showing the path to them, like the old one did. Text directions don't work if you don't know which way is forward or aft......duh.

Embarkation

The Medallion makes embarkation so much easier and faster.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good food overall. Never cared for the Princess buffet layouts/system in other Princess ships. The Enchanted Princess got it right though. The Crown specialty dinner was amazing.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The usual deck chair fiasco around the pool....but if you don't care about being by the pool, there was plenty of empty chairs on the deck 17. Also took a while to find the jogging track....it's on deck 18.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Most were 5 star performances. The magic show didn't play well as close up magic is hard to see in a "large" theatre. Why has every magic act we've seen in the past few years have the levitation table trick? You can buy it on Amazon for children's birthday parties. Some cruise lines use "canned" music for their shows, some have a small band, but Princess has a great orchestra....it really makes a difference!

Children's Programs

Although we didn't have children with us on this cruise, we didn't realize this was an adult cruise....no water park, slides, etc. The arcade was the size of a walk-in closet with only 4 or 5 machines.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As usual, the crew worked their butts off......with a smile and a "good morning" On previous Princess Medallion cruises, it was nice to walk up to a bar and not worry about someone butting in and getting served before you. I think they could see you on their computer and knew in what order to serve people. On this cruise, it was not that way......you had to fight the rude cruisers to be served. Very frustrating, especially, when all you wanted was a coke. By the way, I like getting an unopened can of soft drink and a glass of ice, because you can stock up your state room refrigerator.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This was our 6th Princess cruise and we were surprised by how it was the same, but so different. Many areas were larger, especially the Piazza (yea) Other areas were smaller, like the smallest casino we have ever seen on our 2 dozen cruises taken. In the evening, it was almost impossible to play a game you liked. Because of this, the so-called "non-smoking" area became a smoking area without ashtrays...yuk. I don't know if the theatre on this ship is smaller than usual, but if you want a seat, plan on getting there an hour early (what a waste of time) and the seats remind me of sitting in coach on an airplane. I found the ship clean but did witness several people ditching their trash (straws, candy wrappers, etc.) in plants or just dropping of floor....no trash cans anywhere that I could see. Suggestion: other cruise line ships have an easy way indicating which way is forward or aft (like the "fish" in the carpet design swimming forward on NCL). Does Princess have a secret way to guide you?

Cabin / Stateroom

We've taken a couple dozen cruises on several cruise lines and our state room was the smallest balcony room we ever had. The balcony was barely usable and there was no couch. But that was not a major issue as it was workable. The real problem was the bath room. Oh my God, if you plan on getting dressed in the bathroom, plan on leaving the door open. I've seen larger bathrooms on a sail boat!

Ship tip

If your shower just dribbles out water, call service desk and they will replace shower head. If you picked the queen size bed option, there is probably an electrical outlet hiding near the floor in the middle of wall.

Didn't go on a cruise to pay for a chair on a beach. I suppose if you live far away from any beach, this stop might be exciting for you. Pass, for me.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Typical chaos as thousands of cruisers look for their bag and find transportation. Your Medallion will not help you now. We had Princess transfer to airport and the walk to the bus was so far away, I nearly passed out (I walk with a cane). I don't care what cruise line you sail with, disembarkation is not pleasant.
