Review summary

Really the main thing I want to convey is my gratitude for the service from Mr. Edgar Cruz. He is the only staff member my husband and I insisted on getting a name from so we could compliment him in out cruise review. Really, this man is phenomenal.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was a very pleasant cruise, the scenery was amazing, particularly that around Tracy Arm.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dining rooms were very well maintained and very aesthetically pleasing, but the food in the anytime dining area was not the best.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
To the best of my knowledge there were no rock climbing walls on the ship? If there were and I had known about them, I would have loved to climb! The pools were too cold to swim in however. Considering it was an Alaskan cruise, I'm not surprised. The hot tubs were nice, although they were not warm enough to make it a comfortable experience when cruising past Alaska.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
One of the staff members in particular was absolutely phenomenal. His service was always quick, friendly, and quite frankly the best on the ship. Edgar Cruz is the employee I'm referring to. He typically working in the Speakeasy, and he always had a positive attitude and an engaging presence. Seriously, give this guy a bonus. He was amazing.

Ship tip

I would advise future cruise customers to be more aware of the pamphlets and leaflets distributed by the ship with information about daily on-board events and port excursions. Honestly, it's silly but I was completely unaware of them, and I missed out on a number of events for the first few days of the cruise because of this.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

1 out of 5
We embarked and disembarked in Seattle, and there was unfortunately not too much in the way of shore excursions upon disembarking. Prior to embarking I was able to sight-see and explore, but this was not done through Emerald Princess.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
No shore excursion

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
No shore excursion

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
No shore excursion

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
No shore excursion, the arrival and departure from this port made it difficult to participate meaningfully in any shore excursions. Although one was available, it was too close to sundown to be desirable.
