I PREVIOUSLY RATED THE DISNEY... by MarkR8
Ship: Disney Wonder
I PREVIOUSLY RATED THE DISNEY MAGIC AS BASICALLY PROVIDING THE SAME QUALITY AND LEVEL OF SERVICE/ACTIVITIES, ETC., AS THIS SHIP. AS HAVING NOW BEEN ON CLOSE TO 150 CRUISES, I BELIEVE MY REVIEW ANALYSIS GIVES BETTER PERSPECTIVE THAN FIRST-TIME OR LIMITED CRUISERS. THE FOOD IS AVERAGE AT BEST IN THE MAIN DINING ROOMS. THE BUFFET MEALS FOR LUNCH AND DINNER IN THE CASUAL DINING AREAS ARE LIMITED AND OF MEDIORCE QUALITY. IN THE UPSCALE GOURMET RESTAURANT, FOOD AND SERVICE ARE BETTER, BUT BELOW COMPARABLE QUALITY OF OTHER LINES' SIGNATURE RESTAURANTS. THE STAFF IS NOT AS KNOWLEDGEABLE OR REFINED AS ON OTHER SIMILAR LINES. THE MAIN PRODUCTION SHOWS ARE FIRST RATE, ALTHOUGH ALL DISNEY, AS YOU WOULD EXPECT. OTHER ENTERTAINMENT IS LIMITED AND FAIR. KIDS' CAMP, AS YOU WOULD ASSUME, IS THE BEST FEATURE AND MAIN REASON TO GO ON THIS CRUISE, IF YOU HAVE KIDS. PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN THAT IT IS NOT ROMANTIC ENOUGH OR FILLED WITH TOO MANY CHILDREN, SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IN ADVANCE THAT THIS IS A TOTALLY FAMILY-ORIENTED EXPERIENCE, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME SINGLES AND COUPLES WITHOUT CHILDREN. THERE IS NO LIBRARY OR CASINO, A MAJOR DRAWBACK TO MANY EXPERIENCED PAST CRUISERS. CASTAWAY CAY IS A FIRST CLASS ISLAND, IN MY OPINION COMPARABLE TO LABADEE, HAITI, ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S EASTERN CARIBBEAN RUN. THE CABINS ARE WELL DECORATED AND ARE SOME OF THE LARGEST IN THE INDUSTRY IN THAT CATEGORY. THE SHIP IS WELL MAINTAINED AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IN CONCLUSION, IF YOU GO WITH CHILDREN, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SIMILAR VACATION EXPERIENCE AS YOU WOULD HAVE AT DISNEY WORLD, LOTS OF FUN, NOISY, MEDIOCRE FOOD AND ALL DISNEY. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A TRADITIONAL CRUISE EXPERIENCE, YOU SHOULD TRY ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S 3-DAY BAHAMAS CRUISES ON SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS OR MAJESTY OF THE SEAS, OR CARNIVAL'S 3-DAY CRUISE ON FANTASY OR FASCINATION. THESE 4 SHIPS PROVIDE MORE OF A CRUISING EXPERIENCE THAT PRIOR CRUISERS ARE MORE FAMILIAR WITH AND CAN MORE RELATE TO, FOR BETTER OR WORSE.
