I PREVIOUSLY RATED THE DISNEY... by MarkR8

Ship: Disney Wonder

I PREVIOUSLY RATED THE DISNEY MAGIC AS BASICALLY PROVIDING THE SAME QUALITY AND LEVEL OF SERVICE/ACTIVITIES, ETC., AS THIS SHIP. AS HAVING NOW BEEN ON CLOSE TO 150 CRUISES, I BELIEVE MY REVIEW ANALYSIS GIVES BETTER PERSPECTIVE THAN FIRST-TIME OR LIMITED CRUISERS. THE FOOD IS AVERAGE AT BEST IN THE MAIN DINING ROOMS. THE BUFFET MEALS FOR LUNCH AND DINNER IN THE CASUAL DINING AREAS ARE LIMITED AND OF MEDIORCE QUALITY. IN THE UPSCALE GOURMET RESTAURANT, FOOD AND SERVICE ARE BETTER, BUT BELOW COMPARABLE QUALITY OF OTHER LINES' SIGNATURE RESTAURANTS. THE STAFF IS NOT AS KNOWLEDGEABLE OR REFINED AS ON OTHER SIMILAR LINES. THE MAIN PRODUCTION SHOWS ARE FIRST RATE, ALTHOUGH ALL DISNEY, AS YOU WOULD EXPECT. OTHER ENTERTAINMENT IS LIMITED AND FAIR. KIDS' CAMP, AS YOU WOULD ASSUME, IS THE BEST FEATURE AND MAIN REASON TO GO ON THIS CRUISE, IF YOU HAVE KIDS. PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN THAT IT IS NOT ROMANTIC ENOUGH OR FILLED WITH TOO MANY CHILDREN, SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IN ADVANCE THAT THIS IS A TOTALLY FAMILY-ORIENTED EXPERIENCE, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME SINGLES AND COUPLES WITHOUT CHILDREN. THERE IS NO LIBRARY OR CASINO, A MAJOR DRAWBACK TO MANY EXPERIENCED PAST CRUISERS. CASTAWAY CAY IS A FIRST CLASS ISLAND, IN MY OPINION COMPARABLE TO LABADEE, HAITI, ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S EASTERN CARIBBEAN RUN. THE CABINS ARE WELL DECORATED AND ARE SOME OF THE LARGEST IN THE INDUSTRY IN THAT CATEGORY. THE SHIP IS WELL MAINTAINED AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IN CONCLUSION, IF YOU GO WITH CHILDREN, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SIMILAR VACATION EXPERIENCE AS YOU WOULD HAVE AT DISNEY WORLD, LOTS OF FUN, NOISY, MEDIOCRE FOOD AND ALL DISNEY. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A TRADITIONAL CRUISE EXPERIENCE, YOU SHOULD TRY ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S 3-DAY BAHAMAS CRUISES ON SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS OR MAJESTY OF THE SEAS, OR CARNIVAL'S 3-DAY CRUISE ON FANTASY OR FASCINATION. THESE 4 SHIPS PROVIDE MORE OF A CRUISING EXPERIENCE THAT PRIOR CRUISERS ARE MORE FAMILIAR WITH AND CAN MORE RELATE TO, FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

The staff was extremely friendly... by SueM10

Ship: Disney Wonder

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only dept. I would improve was the land excursion desk, they were not as knowledgeable as other cruises I have been on. (Don't do the glass bottom boat tour in Nassau - way overpriced). The entertainment was great and varied. Pool & spa were well kept and extremely clean. The best stateroom & room service I have encountered. Our dining staff was fantastic!!!!! All the kids had a great time even though they did not attend the organized children's activities. The best cruise for families!!! We are already planning our next trip on the Wonder!

Ship: Disney Wonder

Very kid friendly. The camps are great. Food is fair. Try the resturant Palo (make reservations immediately upon boarding). Pool is a lot of fun for the kids. There is always something going on. There is no real adult night life after midnight. Would recommend if you have kids.

WE SAILED ON DISNEY'S WONDER... by ChrysM

Ship: Disney Wonder

WE SAILED ON DISNEY'S WONDER BACK IN JUNE. IT WAS A FAMILY TRIP SO IT INCLUDED 6 ADULTS, 2 TEENAGERS AND 2 CHILDREN. WE WERE ON THE SHIP FOR ONLY 3 DAYS, I WISH IT WERE LONGER. THE TEENAGERS HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME!! THEY SPENT THE EVENING WITH KIDS THEIR OWN AGE AND MADE LOTS OF NEW FRIENDS. THE SHOWS WERE REALLY GREAT. THE LAST SHOW MY 3 YEAR OLD WATCHED IN AWE. I COULD HAVE SKIPPED NASSAU. WE SPENT MOST OF OUR TIME ON THE SHIP THAT DAY, SOME OF THE ADULTS WENT TO PARADISE ISLAND. THE FOOD COULD BE A BIT BETTER, THE SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE. THEY SHOULD SPEND EXTRA TIME AT CASTAWAY... THAT WAS REALLY FUN.WE WILL DEFINITELY DO IT AGAIN.

G-R-E-A-T is the way we... by DR5

Ship: Disney Wonder

G-R-E-A-T is the way we feel about our cruise.......They truly cater to the kids, which is ok, cause it left more time for my husband and I to enjoy each other. Embarkation went well. The food was nothing to write home about, but the kids enjoyed the freedom of having a hot dog OR a burger and fries whenever they wanted to. There were 2 seperate bathrooms also which was nice. One had the commode and a sink, the other a shower/tub and & a sink. Very spacious cabins!! Disembarkation is VERY early- that was the only downfall. Truly highly reccommended!!

Disney cruise line has to... by IsabelN

Ship: Disney Wonder

Disney cruise line has to have by far, the best coffee I have ever tasted. It may seem silly, but we had a group of eight and EVERYONE absolutely raved about the coffee. Well, enough about the coffee. The shows were first rate, the service impecable. And by far, the very best room service you will find on ANY ship. Hot meals including hamburgers, hot dogs and stuffed shells. The rooms were beautifully appointed and very roomy and bright. The staff was extremely professional and helpfull. The kids playrooms were in a class by themselves. I could not say enough about our experience on this ship! We live in Miami and will happily travel to Port Canaveral again in June(with 4 young children!) to sail with Disney again. EVERYTHING you would expect from Disney and more! The only negative is that there is no casino. Which even though its a family ship, would be nice for the parents and other adults.

First time cruiser, and didn't... by ArunK

Ship: Disney Wonder

First time cruiser, and didn't know what to expect, but the Disney Wonder was everything and more than what I had expected. The ship was just amazing, and nothing like i've ever seen, and attention to detail was great in every aspect! The crew was extremely courteous, and well trained by Disney. There is always something going on in the ship for everyone. I recommend the Disney Wonder to all, and I'm definately going back to the Disney Wonder soon!Arun, OH

Ship: Disney Wonder

This has to be the best cruise experience for me so far. I had nothing to complain about on this trip. Embarking was smooth and pretty much no wait, as well as getting off! Everything was well maintained, and clean, more than I can say about other cruise lines.Being a Disney cast member, I got a great deal, discount or not, it's worth every penny. The food was delicious and the server was great. I would recommend this for anyone, and even though there wasn't a casino on the ship, I didn't even miss it! Gamble at port if you must, but take the cruise, you won't regret it! Mike S. of Orlando

This was our first time... by DianeT11

Ship: Disney Wonder

This was our first time to cruise and we definitely picked a great cruise line!We traveled on the 3 day cruise with our 8 and 10 year old girls. We had a beautiful one bedroom suite that was spacious and elegantly decorated. The entire ship was always clean and well staffed.Entertainment was incredible on the ship, especially the show "Dreams" and "Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer." DO NOT MISS! We also enjoyed Bingo and the Karoake shows. The kids' programs were very well done, there is something to do for every age of kids. My kids liked the organized games and making slime in the laboratory. They also liked performing in a show for the whole ship. The restaurants were very nice. It was great to have a different place to eat each night, as well as having the same waiters every night. The food was not great, but there was always plenty of it. We enjoyed ordering these huge chocolate chip cookies every night in our stateroom. We would also opt for room service for breakfast every morning.Castway Cay was the highlight of our trip, it was a beautiful and relaxing island. Don't plop down at the first place you come to on the beach - too crowded. Walk a little further and you will have more space. My husband and I prefer small crowds, and Disney routes people so that you never feel as if you are stuck with 2,900 other people. There are typically 900 kids on a cruise, but you are not surrounded by screaming kids all the time.I definitely would recommend this cruise for a family looking for something different to do!

Embarkation was great. My... by WillH

Ship: Disney Wonder

Embarkation was great. My family and I drove down and arrived at Port Canivaral at 3:00PM. By 3:30, we were checked in and headed to our room. The room (#6107)was what I expected, with a sofa and a queensize bed. The separation curtain is a real good idea. The food was really good and plentiful and this was just at the buffet cafeteria when we first arrived. We really enjoyed the different resturants where we were able to have dinner in a different themed resturant each night. My kids (11 and 13 years old) really enjoyed themselves, especially my 11 year old. She was allowed to check herself into the kids area and stay until 1:00 in the morning and we actually felt safe about it. The other enterainment was good too, with a Jamacian Steel Drum band by the pool during the day and disco music and other bands at night. My other daughter got a little seasick the second day and couldn't go on the teen excursion that I had bought for her. I told the Director and even though the excursion ticket stated "non-refundable", the Disney people gave me a credit with no problems. The Castaway Cay Island was beautiful and my 11 year old and I snorkled so much in the pretty clear beach that we didn't even bother to get any of the delicious barbercue that everyone was talking about. My wife really loved her massage and all the pampered service we got. Leaving the ship was the only part we didn't like because we didn't want to go! They called us at 6:30 AM and we were eating breakfast at 7:00 with the same waiters and servers who had served us dinner each night. They were really nice and I would have tipped them more money if I could have, but we had other plans. We took final pictures with the servers, said our good-byes, then took a few pictures around the ship and went to pick up our luggage. All the peices were there and by 9:00 AM we were in our car on our way to Disney World. We enjoyed the cruise so much that we wanted more. Thank you for a "Wonder"ful time Disney!

Our cruise on the Disney... by KathyS17

Ship: Disney Wonder

Our cruise on the Disney Wonder was our first. For those scared of water, please don't let your fear get in the way. I'm so terrified of water, I don't even like to drive over bridges. I agreed to go along, and I'm so grateful that I did not let this experience pass me by. The fact that we were on the water miles away from land never even crossed my mind. Our cruise experience was incredible. My husband and I traveled with our 14 and 17 year old sons. They loved the fact that we could partcipate in family outings during the day, then go our separate ways after dinner. My younger son headed straight for the teen club, the older one off to be with friends he had met on board. They still keep in touch with their new acquaintances via email. The staff was incredible, the cabins were incredible, the entire experience was incredible. For those who complain that the food was mediocre, I disagree. It was ten times better than fast food stops on regular vacations. Also must add, I left the ship the exact same weight as I did when I left home. Most everyone I know who's been on a cruise complains of large weight gains. We're planning a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise in May on the Magic. I can only imagine the experience that awaits us. There's something for everyone on a Disney cruise. I highly, highly, recommend that everyone experience this wonderful cruise line sometime soon!

We sailed on the Disney... by LisaS2

Ship: Disney Wonder

We sailed on the Disney Wonder for a 3-day cruise on August 29th. We have two teen-aged sons, ages 15 and 16. We also took along a friend of one of our sons, and we traveled with another family with a 17-year-old son.Embarkation was fast and easy. Food was very good and the service was great. Our kids loved our servers: Mercel and Salva. We stayed in a family stateroom with a veranda. It was great. Loved looking out at the water at night. There was something to do every minute and the kids were never bored. They spent a lot of time in Common Grounds, a place for teens only. They met a ton of kids from every where, and were sad to say goodbye at the end of the cruise, but names, numbers and e-mail addresses were given to all. Some of the kids were talking about getting their parents to all book a cruise at the same time next year. We are thinking about the private island, Castaway Cay. It was so beautiful and peaceful for us. The kids went to the teen beach and we went to the adult beach.Everything went smooth, and easy, Disney has everything down perfect. We had a wonderful time, a tip for you about dinner times, we had the second seating, and we loved it. We did not have to rush to get ready after a full day of play, and you won't be hungry because there is lots of food around for you at any time of the day or night. The best part of second seating is, the day you leave, second seating people don't have to get up and out as early as the early seating do. They had to be up and out to breakfast at 7:00, and second seating people got an hour later, which was nice because we needed the extra time after partying on deck the last night. There was a deck party and lots of stuff going on right up until the end. It was a blast. We are going to book a cruise again next year.

good food, excellent entertainment, and lots of fun. by merrillh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder

There were lots of fun activities on board, and there were three broadway-quality shows during the cruise. There were a lot of kids, but that is to be expected on a Disney cruise. Overall a wonderful experience, and I would definitely do it again.
