Review summary

First time cruiser and very disappointed. Alaska is beautiful but the level of service received and the poor food was extremely disappointing! Room service couldn’t get an order right and sometimes they didn’t even show. Couldn’t get reservation for our anniversary even after calling and waiting in line trying to get assistance. You would think that a table for two could be fit in for such a special occasion.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Rudi’s was awesome but otherwise the food was poor/low quality. Buffet was no better than a Golden Corral and the desserts very disappointing; especially when they ran out. Pizza was very good on upper deck but that’s not what I went on cruise to eat. Sabatinis was aweful!!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools very nice, activities were OK but would have liked more shows rather than games/trivia/bingo.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Rock Opera was fantastic! Wish there was more than one show.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Very poor and borderline rude staff at times (especially when disembarking) . We heard many of the same complaints from others so it wasn’t just our opinion.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and nice balcony room

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice room! Nicer than anticipated!!

Ship tip

Don’t waste money on the premier package unless you plan on drinking more than a couple drinks each day. Otherwise a waste of money.

Sorry to hear your food was disappointing. We loved it last year. But deserts we thought were pretty bland. We loved the deserts on HAL but I thought the food was not as good. 🤪Glad you enjoyed the cabin/cruse. Thanks for the details.

I cruised on Discovery Princess twice, both times to Alaska and had a great time. The food was above average and I had no issues with using Medallion. I don't order room service, cause I prefer to go to the restaurant. Princess has one show a day in Princess Theater, just like other cruise lines, so I dont know why you felt there was no entertainment other than trivia and game shows. It's hard not to enjoy an Alaska cruise, but it looks like you found a way.

I agree 100% about ordering room service and it never coming.... We ordered a pizza one night and it came to our room the next day while we were on a excursion... With that said we cruised on her last June (2023) and the food was awesome. Drinks delivered with the app came very quick no matter where I was on the ship. Outside of Alaska and 7 days of perfect weather the food was the highlight for me.

Soory to hear you had such a bad time. Service is usually very good with Princess. Glad to hear that it wasn’t all bad though.
