Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Point of reference: I am a Las Vegas Chinatown Foodie Everything was delicious, high quality and satisfying. The lobster is cooked perfect and not overdone. Skagway Dining Room Best appetizer: Seafood Medley Best soup: Beer and cheddar soup Best entree: Halibut Best dessert: Sea Salt Caramel flan, A Chef’s Kiss My chocolate birthday dessert was not sweet, just right. Ferdinand and Fredy were our waitstaff. Highly recommend, especially the view from Table 295. Gigi’s Pizzeria Always packed, hard to get a table right away. But it’s not a specialty restaurant so it’s free. The Hawaiian Pizza was just ok. My ravioli felt like it came frozen. The tiramisu was too creamy and lacked flavor. World Fresh Market The buffet is a buffet is a buffet, what can I say? If you know how to choose your food wisely, you will have a good experience. If not, then that’s your luck? Breakfast: Smoked Salmon. Yes the cream cheese is gatekept in a piping bag behind the counter. French toast brioche was yummy. Smoothie shots were delightful~ The tables were promptly cleaned and I never - not once - stood to get drinks. The waistaff was awesome that way.

Ship Quality

Compared to Ruby Princess, Odyssey and Harmony of the Seas We kept getting lost and husband is usually awesome at direction and navigation. This is due to the fact that there are no thoroughfares between the dining rooms, casinos etc The ship is clean and well-maintained though.

Cabin / Stateroom

Bed was comfy and firm Room was clean Balcony small

Ship tip

Skagway Table 295 is next to a window. Listen to the Naturalist on Deck 16 at 5am for Endicott Arm. Listen to the Naturalists talks- so informative and inspiring. Avoid the host at Gigi’s Pizzeria, he’s the opposite of nice. Laundry rooms are comped at the moment- not coin-operated yet so take advantage!

Ports of call

Took the Mendenhall Glacier, salmon hatchery and Salmon bake tour. It was good but rushed. We power walked to nugget falls (75 mins) rushed through the hatchery (30mins) and ate within an hour at the salmon bake. We saw a bear family on a meadow driving through town. Various bald eagle along the way. Juneau town was cute though

Ketchikan, Alaska

Take the Silverking Feast with Wilderness Walk. This was our best excursion on this cruise. We saw some humpys bubble feed! Tongass Rainforest was breathtaking! Dungeness crab is delicious
