Scenery was magnificent. Although Discovery was too large to go up to the Glacier.

Review summary

Alaska was beautiful, highly recommend the train in Skagway and an excursion to see the glaciers up close.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Long lines but moved quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Stay away from the buffets. People not washing their hands and no staff manning the washing station. People served themselves, touching serving utensils. Staff cleaning multiple tables with same cloth, not sanitizing tables. Sabatini's was excellent food and service. Main dining room you were rushed through dinning, service very spotty.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness center too crowded, lots of children taking up machines. Not enough equipment for size of ship. Lotus spa massages were excellent, but found the spa to be dirty. Game shows, etc. Overcrowded for size of ship, should have had multiple shows at once to break up the crowds.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Rock Star Oprea and Bar show were excellent. Excellent singers actors and dancers .

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff at the hot dog and pizza stations outside were very rude. Our room steward Jerome was excellent. And most of the bartenders were excellent, just looked overworked. Excursion desk was awful, no information and mostly no one there.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The common areas hallway rugs, walls elevators were dirty. Stained carpets, someone must have spilled something in the hallway. It was there for 2 days before staff cleaned it up.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Bathroom the smallest we have ever had. A couch with a table that should have never been in the room. Very small cabin. Our cabin was very clean and our Cabin Steward was excellent.

Ship tip

You will not see a glacier from the ship, it is too big to go to the glacier. You must take the boat excursion to see them, which is expensive and limited. Do not book Discovery if you want to go to the glacier on the ship.
