Lovely ship, great crew but the Japanese itinerary isn’t for everyone. Particularly if you don’t want to eat fish, sometimes nasty, cold fish every meal. Clearly, as an American, I was in the minority, and the catering was for the vastly majority Japanese population. Nevertheless, I had difficulty finding something to eat anywhere outside of the specialty restaurants, and the Buffet was almost useless. If you want to eat western food - this Japanese itinerary isn’t for you. Love the bidets though.

Overall, a wonderful experience. The itinerary was great, and we enjoyed all of the ports and excursions. We felt blessed to see peak sakura blooms at Hirosaki Castle in Aomori, and wandering Kanazawa on our own was a highlight. The send-offs and performances from the locals at each port during sailaways are not to be missed. Really, truly lovely and touching. You must make sure to be out on deck, preferably the promenade, when leaving each port in Japan. A dining highlight onboard was the Kai Sushi restaurant (surcharge). The sushi was delicious and the service very good. The set-course menu was more than worth it. We dined there twice as we enjoyed it so much more than the main dining room experience. If Sakata is on your itinerary, try some ramen from one of the food trucks at the pier before getting back on the ship. We liked the one with shrimp wontons best. A treat!

Family trip to see the cherry blossoms and explore Japan. The cruise was overall great and Japan is amazing. Definitely one to do!

Worst cruise ever. Dirty ship. Medallion did not work well. Bad food. Bad crew. Hope it's better over in Japan.

We booked this cruise because of the shift in itinerary -- included Sea of Cortez (Loreto and La Paz). We went as a good sized group -- 7 couples, so we were ready for a blast. 2 Disappointments. First, missing an excursion on Whale Sharks. Apparent;ly, this is constrained by seasonal conditions, so you should book far in advance. Second, missing Loreto entirely -- key part of why we chose this itinerary. On the flip side, we had a blast in Mazatlan... half of the group went into town, half went to Stone Island.

Diamond Princess is a well laid out ship and while it is showing some signs of age it is still very good. The crew were amazing and always did things with a smile. A great stress free way to spend Christmas!

It was very enjoyable, loved the food, in fact we both put on weight. We are planing another, and looking forward to it.

La ruta está espectacular! Realmente el destino de Japón vale todo el esfuerzo. El barco no es el mejor pero la línea de crucero hace la diferencia con el servicio y la calidad de la comida. El grupo de entretenimiento también hacen la diferencia. Definitivamente el crucero no sería lo mismo sin ellos y sin el personal de servicio en los restaurantes y en el buffet.

This cruise is an experience that I will NEVER forget. All staff were wonderful, professional and extremely friendly. Well done Diamond Princess!! I am definitely booking another Princess cruise!!

This was a very unorganized and disappointing experience, you would think this was the first time they put together a cruise and not an established name in cruising.

Great cruise with good staff. Good layout of ship. Some stuck up passengers. Ship could do with some areas repainted. Internal pool area was used daily. Staff was very helpful.

Diamond princess is wonderful ship to cruise on hubby and I did sydney/new zealand in january wonderful service crew and staff all wonderful. Definately recommend to others. Will cruise with princess again.

This was our first trip to Japan and it’s probably a good idea to go on a cruise. I’m very pleased that we had a guide with us the whole way as it’s a totally different culture and language that I’m used to. Enjoyed the cruise and our private excursions

It was my first cruise. I was a solo cruiser. This cruise is what started my love of cruising and being able to be in several different places within a week.
