Feb. 13th cruise from LA to Mexico by joekarend

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We boarded ship on Feb. 13th to start on a vacation we had been looking forward to all year. My Mom was in hospital when we left home but was going home on the 13th. I found out on Sunday the 14th she was not doing well at all and was not going home. It was then my husband and I decided to interrupt our trip and disembark in Puerto Vallarta to head for home. We talked with Jesse in the purser's office and he was a tremendous help. He coordinated everything for us getting off ship, explained going thru customs, scheduled our return flight home and had our airline tickets waiting for us at the airport in Puerto Vallarta. It was such a relief to  have the worry of how to get home taken off of our shoulders and everything went so smoothly. The courtesy and caring shown to us from Princess cruise line was remarkable and will always be remembered. We did return home on the 16th and my Mom was doing a little better but this was not to last long and she did pass away on the 26th.  We did purchase travel insurance thru and are in the process of doing the paper work necessary for reimbursement. Hopefully it will go as smoothly as Princess made our trip home.

good family fun by jenniehuth

We had a fabulous cruise aboard the Crown Princess. The food was outstanding! The entertainment was good. We brought my mother in law and met my sister in law from Alaska in LA. It was my mother in laws first cruise and she was very impressed with everyone and everything on board. She is now planning her own trip with her husband!Happy

Mexican Riviera on Princess by bwillia080261

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

This was a terrific cruise. I can' say enough good things about the service and the food quality in particular. The weather was pretty much perfect and the shore excursion in Puerto Vallarta was excellent too.

The ship is ten years old but is in great shape and was very clean, modern and elegant. The restaurant choices are varied and of a high quality. I wouldn't recommend the buffet's for anything other than breakfast with the exception of the special nights like Indian food. The specialty restaurants called Crown Grill and Sabatini's are worth the modest up charge for a special evening. In fact the Crown Grill was as good as any land based high end steak restaurant.

The fine Art auctions were fun and most of the shows were very good too. The music in the various clubs was just OK.

The wine bar is fun as is the coffee/pastry shop.

All in all we loved our vacation!

So-So by bobbyrnes

A good cruise, but not as good as the other 3 cruises we've had with Princess!  The ship is getting older - the food was good, but noticeably lesser quality than previous cruises.  Our request for a table of eight did not work.  We were assigned to a table for 2 the first night, then(after complaining) assigned to a table for10 for the rest of the cruise.

The Love Boat Cruise by vjles

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

After taking 9 cruises in the Caribbean area we decided to take the Love Boat Cruise on the West Coast. It was good. The water is a little bit more rough than being on the Atlantic Ocean and the time change was a little rough.  The first stop, Puerto Vallatra was disappointing. It could have been the tour that we took, tour was not that good along with the tour guide. The next 2 stops were really good, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. The tour of Mazatlan and the whale watching one we took on Cabo were great. The tour guide on Mazatlan was actually the best that we have had in all our 10 cruises. 2 out of 3 is fine with us.

Had a wonderful time on the ship and in the three ports we visited.  Biggest complaint would be the wifi on board the ship.  Very, very slow and if you purchae minutes, they burn very quickly.

Buffet Food quality by willnoreen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

During our most recent cruise, 4 days to Catalina & Ensanada, the cruise was great. The food was terrible. I have submitted a complaint to customer service @ princess cruise line. We have gone on previous cruises withholding princess and it was great. This trip had some good points, sabatinis, international cafe & coffee shop. My wife loves the shops. However, one of the MAIN reasons to go on a cruise is the FOOD and the variety of the food.  Neither was there on this last cruise. The worst part is, we're going on the Mexican Reveria, later this month!  We sure hope it improves a lot. Otherwise, we will not go on Princess Cruises again. In addition, we will tell others that cruise, not to sail with priness.

Respectfully,

Will & Noreen Hames

Girl's Reunion by Cruiser983

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We had a group of 14 women, with just a few who had never cruised before.  This was my first Princess Cruise however my 14th cruise.  I must say that I was disappointed with the overall morale of the staff.  I'm an outgoing person and found that I had to initiate a conversation with most staff who didn't seem to be interested at all.  In fact, I thought they were bored.  Our steward, Dez, was jovial and upbeat.  I had 3 Accupunture sessions and Manuela was incredible.  She's professional, knowledgeable and personable.  Everyone in the salon is also great.  Overall, I saw the cruise director once on stage and once on the TV explaining disembarkation.  Typically the cruise director is annoying in a very positive way.  He/She is greeting passengers, very upbeat, making sure everyone is enjoying themselves.  I don't want to accept the excuse that this was a short cruise.  I have been on short cruises before (3) and I never got the feeling that most of the staff was "in training".  No one in our dining room was proactive.  We had 2 tables of 7  women and brought our own wine understanding that we would pay the corkage.  Halfway through our meal I looked over to our other table and noticed that their wine glasses were empty!!!  Oh my goodness, no one offered to pour wine for them.  We we asked our waiter he replied "Is that what you want?"  We had 4 bottles of wine at our table.  He knew we were all together.  Overall I could only give 3 stars.  I managed to really enjoy the cruise however I wanted to give some constructive criticism.

average by ck1960

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Having only twice before cruised and only on the Norwegian Epic which  I loved, I would say about this Princess cruise:

Buffet very mediocre;

room staff Ishmaiel very nice.

Fun having good first run movies outside by the pool

Dining room Bottecelli food very good.

Nothing to do on Catalina Island; had fun in Ensenada walking around;

ship looks a bit tired in place and could use new carpets in room.  Shower is teeny.

Comedian and shows very good.

Mediocre at best by mikephuong21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Ive sailed with disney, norweigen, and carvival. In comparison princess was a bit sub par in comparison. The staff was deffinately the least friendly. The ship was also a bit dated and unkept with things like bird droppings and worn furniture. My biggest gripe was the service though, they were a little rude for my taste. But for the value if you want a balcony, this cant be beat!

OUR SECOND SUPER BOWL EXPERIENCE ON A CRUISE SHIP by Cruiser951

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Sadly, and although the Patriots did not make it to Super Bowl this year, we still went and enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos beat N. Carolina Panthers.  We booked Super Bowl with Carnival in the past, and NEVER again!!  Too many people, loudness, ruthless and craziness throughout the ship!  Especially if you're traveling with children (under 21!)

Princess is definitely the way to travel!  The crowd/passengers are much more civilized!   Staff are much more friendlier and greet you with a warm and happy SMILE.  They make you feel welcomed throughout your stay!

Perfect Getaway from Life by Gary5428

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

My wife and I along with my 84 year old mother had a perfect 4 days aboard the Crown Princess  The Cruise Director really stood out as very helpful as were most the crew who took care of us over the 4 days at sea. Princess has really stepped up the level of professional entertainment and all the shows were really outstanding.  Once we got back home  we booked a 15 day Panama Canal cruise aboard the Island Princess and are counting down the days until we  leave for our next adventure.

relaxing by marcyepps1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

the room was nice and the weather was awesome! The only thing I can complain about was the food. The restaurants were hard to find. We were disappointed with the lack of flavor the food had. I personally expected more Mexican, spicy foods and I couldn't even find salsa. I was bummed, A Superbowl cruise with no chips and salsa.

Full of Fun, Entertainment, Relaxation and Value by ptanian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

I must say for a 4 day cruise it was packed with many types of activities, food, fun and great service.  Embarkation was organized in an orderly fashion and their personal attention to customer service was delightful.  The crew of the Crown Princess takes pride of what they do with sincerity and it shows.

It is what it is! by sashara2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Overall, the 4 day cruise was satisfactory, but there are several areas where improvements could be made, in our opinion:

1. We were 'past cruisers' - 3 times - but no one could seem to figure out when we cruised. An agent we contacted after returning home said that they could locate the dates by putting in Robert L Ross, 02/07/1932. Seems that he was the only one capable of doing this.

2. Though the food was acceptable it was 'bare bones' when certain things were considered: No Lobster, no crab, few 'meaty offerings', few salad offerings. (We could go to the 'buffet' and get a salad but we wanted to be 'waited on'!

3. There was a photography co. that was pushing their 'black and white' photos with a session on the 19th. deck - name slips our mind - that was a big 'rip-off'! We know that some people want to spend 'big-bucks' on this activity but the whole thing should be explained BEFORE getting to the 'studio'. ("Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me)! We won't be 'fooled again').

4. A GOOD THING: Our waiter in our assigned eating place was GREAT! (Daniel from Hungary) Friendly, personable, good English, knowledgeable about the menu, VERY helpful about 'ship things' in general.

5 Even though the first night late arrival from Ensenada was an inconvenience, the safety of the ship and passengers is to be commended - also, we received $208.00 credit to our account which covered everything, including drinks and 'tips'!

I doubt that we would again take a '4-day cruise'. We will cruise again - just longer. (We have deposited a $200.00 'future cruise' fee with Princess which we have 2 years to use or it is refunded).

All in all, a nice 'get-away, but only a 3 star, overall.
