Review summary

This cruise was a great way to see a lot of places without the worry of traveling around them ourselves. This ship was beautiful, the rooms were clean and quiet and comfortable, and actually bigger than I was expecting. Our 15 year old son spent the week on the pullout sofa bed, and said it slept great. We only ate at the casual places (burger grill, pizza, buffet) but the food was really good, and didn't make me wish that I'd brought nicer clothes for the main dining room.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
It was a good starting point, although everyone was exhausted from the overnight flight in. Might have been better to come the day before, but we powered through it, and enjoyed walking Las Ramblas and the Columbus Monument. Port bus was easy to find and reasonably priced and dropped us off right in front of the terminal.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

I only wish we had more time in this port. The excursion to the top of the rock was great, but we only had about 20 minutes to wander at the top, and I would've liked at least twice that.

Marseille (Provence), France

5 out of 5
I knew nothing about Marseille or any of the excursions but we chose to go to Arles & Le Baux de Provence. Beautiful countryside, awesome guide, both little towns were extremely interesting

Genoa, Italy

We chose the Milan & Last Supper excursion. It's a good hump of a bus ride, and our guide was not very interesting. Milan was just okay (I'm not into fashion so the shopping didn't interest me) but the Last Supper viewing made the whole trip worth it.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Pisa is absolutely stunning. We climbed to the top of the tower, had time to peruse the little shops, our guide took us into a huge church that was gorgeous - I would absolutely recommend this excursion.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
We stayed three extra days in Rome, which I feel was necessary in order to see everything. We got our own hotel and transportation, independent of Princess, so I'll just say that the disembarkation process was seamless.
