Wonderful cruise with Costa by McF13702573

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recommend the Costa Mediterraneen cruise for family because the are offering good quality price for children ...you can not get best for the same price with Royal Carribeaan for exemple. There is 3 nice pools...a wonderfull gym if you like to training..it is better than a 5* with royal carribean.....nice sauna...amasing showers at the gym...the food is Ok...as i said for a 4* the price is good...the room give a lot of space for cloting...and the service was very good .... the staff treat the person with a lot of respect...again it is better than the staff on a Royal Carribean ship...were sometime I felt insecuried with the staff...so Costa is a very good company...and we will travel with them again for sure.

Great Ports by AndreaK2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautifully decorated and over all a nice cruise. Dining room food had no presentation and was disappointing every night. My husband and I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't. This was the ONLY disappointing thing on this cruise. The staff was excellent and the service commendable.

A Good Cruise for the Price by DebA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The price of this cruise was better than most for a balcony during a school vacation. The ship was very clean, and the staff was delightful. Our room was great with more than usual storage for clothing. Each day during lunch the buffet offered an international section featuring foods from a specific country. (Greek, Chinese, British, Mexican). My husband truly enjoyed this. I found the evening dining room choices difficult because they featured less standard fare which I prefer. However, othersat my table thought the food choices were fabulous. We found it difficult to navigate around the ship due to a more chopped up layout of public areas. Discovered some areas late in the week. We recommend that you do a serious tour early in the week. There was a high percentage of European passengers, so English was not as prevalent. Deck chairs were a cinch to get at any time of day! (The typical age was over 50) Nightly shows (we attended 3) were very good.

A Lousey Cruise by SherrieW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been cruising for 36 years and this was the worst cruise I have ever been on. We requested a balcony room from the agent and discussed our wishes in detail. We used this same agent last year and so she well should have known what we wanted. She said at the time I booked the trip that our room was a "Partially Obstructed View" which she told me meant that when standing in our room, we would see the ocean view and when "SITTING ON OUR BALCONY" we would see the ocean view. I also spoke with another agent from here a couple weeks later about something else and got her to double check the view from this room. I was told the same thing that the original agent had told me. NOT TRUE!!! I think knowing our wishes the agent should have said lets go ahead and book on another floor to make sure of your view. From standing in our room, standing on our balcony and "SITTING ON OUR BALCONY" all we could see was the LIFE BOAT! I didn't pay this kind of money to look at a life boat for 7 days. I called your office and spoke with yet another person before the ship left port that first day and he told me that there was nothing he could do about it and that if we were to be upgraded to another cabin, we certainly wouldn't get it for free! I then went down to the information desk on the ship to let them know that we had the wrong room. They too told me there was nothing they could do about it and that was the end of the discussion. The food on the ship was not very good and no variety. You'd better like Italian cause that about all your gonna get the entire time. The soup and other items that were supposed to be hot were barley room temperature. Even the coffee and hot chocolate never got above luke temperature. The staff we had in the dining room were not good at all. It took forever to get waited on and to get our food. We spent most of every meal without the first refill of tea or even water. While all other people in the dining room were enjoying their meal, we were waiting 5 - 10 minutes between every course just to have our plates removed and finally get to the next course. Thank God for the basket of breadsticks and rolls. We clean them out every night while waiting on the real food to come. The pasta was always UNDER COOKED, the shrimp was OVER COOKED and the dressing for the salads never tasted the same way twice. Even on the buffets the food was never hot and the staff out there could have cared less if we ate or not. One morning we decided to try breakfast in the dining room and we finally had to go get a waiter and beg him to take our order after sitting there for about 10 minutes. Of course he told us he was busy and that somebody would be with us shortly. We finally got a waiter about 10 minutes later. The staff in the onboard shops were very rude. One day when me and my two friends had gone down to the shops, the staff looked at us and said "these women are like vlchers, can they not wait 2 minutes." We were the only ones in the shop at the time! Let me get this right; they have merchandise they want to sell and we have money and want to buy; isn't that what retail is all about? Overall horrible experience! I Will never go on Costa and will never use this agency again!

America in Italia by BobH14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

They did not have Wi-Fi and the internet service was irregularly operating, even in still port. Day and evening entertainment were good. Security blew us off and referred us to "information" when we informed them that an Italian woman had struck my wife in her back quite hard while my wife and the rest of the audience were giving a "standing ovation" during an evening performance. Because, the woman gestured belligerently, she could not see. We did, however, enjoy the company of many other foreign passengers.

Extremely disappointed by SandraC10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

At the time we booked this cruise,we were told by our travel agent-who called Costa to verify--that the room we booked had a partially obstructed view.We were told that sitting on our balcony,we could see the ocean. This was not true. The life boat totally obstructed our view while sitting and partially obstructed our view while we stood on our toes. When we arrived on ship, we were very bluntly told by information personnel that there was nothing they could do for us. The clerks in the shops were unfriendly and at times rude.No one book a room on deck 5 without making sure there is a view.

Not likely on Costa again by ScottS16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My 19th cruise on 7 different lines, first on Costa. Well below average on service, shows, food selection and quality. If price and itinerary are equal, pick Carnival, RCL, HAL, Disney. There was nothiing special about Costa. Our waiter never told us his name, or asked us for ours. I was told by the purser that I couldn't adjust the gratuities!! I could give more, but the standard tips were not negotiable. I made it clear they were voluntary, and finally they allowed me to change the amounts. Overall much lower than our other cruises.

A Costa Cruise by RonA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We enjoyed the ship and the crew. The biggest problem was the food. Even with an English menu, we didn't know what some of the foods were. Our meals on the Celebrity line last year were a lot better.

"A relaxed experience" by LazaroA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I liked the ship's European style very much, it offered a relaxed environment and plenty of quiet and private spots for those searching for areas like these. The staff was very polite at all times. There were a couple of negative issues as listed under the Dining and Excursion areas. Overall, I recommend the Costa brand and will use in future trips.

Costa Mediterranea by DeborahC6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

First impression - the ship is bright and really a showpiece. Magnificent decor. They do let you find your own cabin - but it's much faster to board without waiting for someone else to show you the obvious.

would i recomend costa? by CarolynS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

THE ship itself was beautiful. I took many pictures of it. Also the dining room. the entertainment at the pool was well done. dancing and games. we were very disappointed with the dining room food. Many nights we went from there up to the buffet because we were still hungry. The first cruise that lobster was not served at all. Had to ask for our glassea to be refilled. The night shows were very disappointing we got up and walked out. The casino was to small .Geared more to high rollers.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

it was a nice cruise, but its for older people, every thing that happens on the ship all the activities are for older people, but the service is good, its a nice ship, but every things very exspensive like drinks soda on board activities, at the end they hit me with a $140.00 fee just for gratitudes that i was never told about, i would never recomend going with costa.
