Ok...Let me start with the very unorganized embarkation in a hot humid Miami! Being there with a two year old and a one year old we were not able to sit anywhere in the shade and had to stand in the heat while getting stummbled over by old smoking Europeans who wanted to cut the line. I would say 80% of the passengers on this cruise smoked! Once we finally made it on the ship we were happy to get our room and the room was nice and roomy. Servicing the room is a different story. We would keep milk in our little fridge for the baby to drink in the evening since nothing was availabe pass 8pm. The room waiter would come in make our beds and throw out the milk out of the fridge.  We asked several times to get extra garbage bag where we could dispose of diapers but were never given any. Who ever this lady was I hope she lost her job because she was one of the main reasons why we will never again go on COSTA cruises. 

Also, charging for pizza after 8pm??? Really??????? charging for room service????? I guess as Americans we are not used to this kind of nickle and diming...

Ports were very nice and we enjoyed every one of them. Well except that due to "high waves" we were not able to go to Grand Turk. So with all that said I would never recomment anyone to go to this cruise line. Especially if they have young kids.

We sailed on the Luminosa. It was a beautiful ship. The ports we stopped in were great. Lots to do on the ship or just relax. We were a little concerned because of some of the inferior comments but the food was good.

I had a wonderful time on a 10 day cruise in the Western Caribbean. The Luminosa was my first cruise experience and I'm glad it was because it was more than expected. The staff were friendly, engaging and helpful. The food was excellent, just unbelievably tasty, and I appreciated the different cultures of foods when in their countries. Ex. Beef patties served whilst in Jamaica. I would have given this rating all 5 stars, but I was not impressed with the organization on the day of leaving the ship. Since it was my first time on a cruise, I felt anxious I was going to miss my flight. My call time to leave was 8am, and I was expecting we would exit off the boat at this time and scoop our luggages. However, this was just a call time to wait in an extremely unorganized, chaotic line that killed an hour and a half. This time was so crucial since we needed to be on a plane. It left a sour taste in my mouth. On a lighter note, smooth sails and comfortable on deck experiences.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is an Italian cruise line. We had people with us that have sailed Costa before and had a great time, this time was much different for all of us. This also goes for all the American's we met on the ship. No one enjoyed the ship and would not do another Costa Cruise. Now the staff for the most part was excellent. No issues there, but the other guests were terrible. Every morning I would get cut off in line for food, and when making my presence known they'd wave me off like I was a 3rd class citizen to them. They are very loud, rude, and not just to the other guests, but the staff as well. Every staff person that we had encountered welcomed us Americans with open arms because we didn't treat them like slaves. The food was average, it certainly was not terrible, but it's not even comparable to other cruises I've been on in the past. On board entertainment was the worst I've encountered. If you didn't speak Italian, you were short out of luck. Now if this is what Costa (Italian Cruise) is trying to cater to, that is fine, but please do not advertise and promote American's or Canadian's will enjoy the ship. If this was just my opinion then fine, maybe it was just me, but when we met 10-14 people from the states and Canada that had the same thoughts; that cannot be a coincidence. Be aware! I will never do another Costa cruise nor would I ever recommend one to anyone.

The ship was very nice, food average, expected higher quality at dinner, limited on ship activities and entertainment, workers were excellent.

The Costa Luminosa is a newer,beautiful ship -- very clean, great entertainment!  We choose this cruise because of the ports of call -- all were great!  However, the food could be much improved.

We had a tremendous experience on our cruise. The only negative is (and it really is rather slight) is the number of Europeans (especially Italians) on the cruise. It was nearly a perfect trip. I would do it again in a hearbeat given the chance.

I booked this cruise to celebrate my 40th wedding anniversary, everything was wonderful. The ship is beautiful and very easy to learn your way around. The staff is very attentive to your needs and try everything to meet your request. I was wonderfully surprise by the anniversary cake with song delivered to my table on the day of the anniversary. I recommend the cruise and Costa to everyone.
