Horrible customer service

Upsetparent Thanks for your review.  European cruise lines are like being in Europe,  Smoking everywhere,  rather unpleasant to lots of Americans. 

I will also suggest that you stay away from HAL as they allow smoking on all balconies.   My idea of a vacation is not a floating ashtray.  I like the fresh sea air of being on s ship.

I can appreciate the fact that these are your opinions. And you have every right to them as I do. So, when someone posts a review and claims they have 7+ cruises behind them yet complain about things that for the most part can be discovered by research (as most past cruisers would do) and are common on most cruise lines, it may convey your opinion but for someone with cruising experience, casts a shadow on how useful your opinion is. For example, you have the right to voice your opinion about smoking because you don't like it. That's fine, but we don't like children when we sail yet I don't make it any point in any review I have ever written. I also don't like drunks yet they get no mention in my reviews. Why? Because they are a part of life when cruising and I expect them onboard. And as for your "Room Waiter" (After 7 cruises you don't know their called "Cabin Stewards"?), how do you know it was a lady? If you did research before you booked this cruise you would have known that Costa is NOT designed for kids and should have chose another line instead of complaining and saying ".... Especially if they have young kids". That is like an adult complaining because there were to many kids on their Disney cruise!! I still don't understand how you thought a Costa cruise, primarily built for adults, would be sufficient entertainment for a 2 and 1 year old! And I am an American too. I also expect there to be extra charges for extra amenities (Nickle & Diming). But, these extras are options and not forced  as you stated " you were forced to eat at the restaurants for extra $$$ or the main dining room. " so this sends the wrong message to people that may have never sailed before. As I said, you are entitled to your opinion as am I and I feel your 1 star review was caused by your poor planning, not the total failure of the cruise line. Sorry....

I find it a bit hard to believe that you have been on 7+ cruises without knowing some very common issues that you complain about. Did you read ANY reviews about your cruise or research information about the ship pre-cruise? 80% of the passengers smoke...so what, it's not illegal unless they are smoking in a "No Smoking" designated area. It is also not illegal to be European!! As for your issues with the "Room Steward" (not room waiter), did you ever think of complaining the customer service/Pursers desk???  Charging for pizza after 8pm and cabin service...Costa is NOT the only cruise line that does this and being American has nothing to do with it! If you would have done some research pre-cruise you would have known about Costa charging for these items. Costa cruises are NOT designed around children. It is an adult cruise line. If that was a concern of yours, you should have booked Disney.  Not sure if it's just me or not but when I book a cruise, I spend a LOT of time reading reviews about the ship and reading about the ship  on the cruise lines website itself so there are no surprises. And after 12 cruises, I have never gotten any surprises.
