A wonderful cruise by LiseF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were on Costa Fortuna on January 13 for 7 days. We have really enjoyed the cruise. The crew is fantastic. We could get all the information needed. We also had service in french which we greatly appreciated. The shore excursions have been very interesting and the guides were great. The only thing we have complained about is the fact that there was a group of 1800 persons, all ages and the young adults (between 18 to 30 around) have been noisy late at night, in the cabin section. At 3h00 or 4h00, it is not interesting to hear them whistling, talking loud et even one guy fell down in front of our cabin et have been knocking to a few doors. We have been told that the group is cruising every year at this period of time. So the next time, we won't reserve the second or the third week of January. We will also inquire, before reserving, if there are big groups cruising on the week choosen. We will certainly recommend that Cruise Line. Thanks for everything. Lise Fontaine

Wonderful first cruise! by AT24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the ship. It was my first cruise and I would absolutely go again. The staff was great and very helpful. Daily entertainment had everything one could ask for. Although, the selection of food was huge I was sometimes disappointed with its taste. Overall, I would recommend a cruise to everybody.

Terrific experience by ElizabethF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We are repeat "Costa" cruisers and are generally very happy with the service and the ships, but this one time we were a little disappointed with the food. Even with a few cons, however, we will sail with Costa again becuase we enjoy the "Italian" ambiance and since we are not "all about the food", we know that we will again enjoy our cruises with Costa. Hopefully, the food on our next cruise will be fantastic.

A Great exciting cruise by JamesB22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was a great buy and the ship and crew including the entertainment was wonderful. The quality of the food in the dining rooms for dinner was not very good. The meat was dry, fruit very hard, and the portions were very small. This portion of the cruise was a huge disappointment to me. For instances, egg plant parmesian was one of the entrees I chose and it was 3'' by 4'' and 1'' high. Steak was tough and a turkey dinner had rolled turkey as the meat, etc.

A disappointing poor cruise by StephenK3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Meals were fair, service was poor not because of personnel but because of lack of training and communication of management. Excursions one specific was misrepresented when we scheduled snorkeling the crew although knowing the weather was stormy took us to a cove that was dangerous and then did not allow snorkeling. That cove appeared dangerous even in the best weather because of undercurrents. We paid for an excursion that should have been cancelled before reaching the site.

A good cruise by RonneyS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Customer service is great, cleanlinest is a plus, itinerary needs tweaking, not enought time at preferred ports and to much waste at the cruise companys owned port. Very nice and accomodating service. On-board gifts are expensive ratio'd to street cost. Entertainment is 6 of 10 but loads of activities for kids. Bar hustlers are discreet and non-hasseling. Excursions are expensive. Departure and return departure are a plus and easy. All and all we rate this cruise as a 7 of 10.

The ship was immaculate, room comfortable by CeeC

The cleanliness, excellent service by personnel, good food and plenty of it. Half their shop has "Guess" handbags which I can purchase in Macys, there should have been more italian leather handbags and clothing. The Jewerly shop was wonderful and so was the duty free shop. I have never seen such hard workers. I was very impressed by them. The room, closits, and bathroom size were very comfortable

Lousy cruise by PeggyC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Every passenger we talked to agreed the food was terrible, many times too tough to eat. The entertainment for the adults, napkin folding, making paper flowers etc. the Midnight buffet conisted of three pieces of fruit on a stick. A few shows were good, the rest were mediocre. We will NEVER cruise with Costa again.

Experienced cruiser by foleycruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was clean and smooth sailing but was very noisy because of the many sounds the ship made while moving. The shopping areas were too small and had a very limited selection of merchandise. Everywhere on the ship was too crowded because the public facilities were too small for the number of passengers.

Not so European.. but a GREAT cruise ! by RomainP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is beautiful, cleverly combining traditional Italian decor with modern facilities. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The entertainment was FABULOUS. I would simply caution those that are seeking an "elegant" or "sophisticated" atmosphere. There are really two types of guests on this ship that do not mix: 1) Well-educated (mostly European) who prefer to dress up in the evenings and show good manners in public rooms by talking at a moderate level. 2) Absolute slobs (mostly north-Americans and Latinos), who spend most of their days drinking alcohol and gambling. These people are generally obese and show complete disrespect for other guests and for the staff by attending dinner with shorts and T-shirts, and speaking very loud at the table. Clearly, we had a difficult time with the second category because they ruined some of our dinners..

An EXCELLENT Experience by DukeB

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very well appointed ship, a competent crew, and engaging staff. Of all my cruise experiences, this was hands-down the best on-board entertainment I have ever seen. The ship's dancers and singers were way above par. The featured entertainer and ship's orchestra was as good as you'll find anywhere. The lounge entertainment was just first-class with many options for rock and roll, standards, jazz, ballroom dancing, and classical. The fine dining cuisine was very European and very good. Excellent dining staff. The buffet was predictable and interesting.

Costa Fortuna by AndriaY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was adequate. The decor was OK. I missed the ammenities that are offered on American cruise ships like having the bed turned down at night. The chocolate and the towel figures were sorely missed. The cost for the use of the Internet was prohibitive and it was slow!

Great Ports, Entertainment Lacking by AshleyM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We would recommend this ship if you are booking solely for the ports of call, as Costa is an Italian cruise line with mostly European guests (which we knew of in advance). As a result, all evening shows, entertainment, comedians, etc. were performed in Italian, leaving us to seek fun in the casino and disco most evenings. However, the ports of call were amazing and being in a new place had us in bed fairly early most nights to be ready for the next day's adventures.
