Review summary

If this was our first cruise, we would never go on another. Buffets were the best part of the cruise and these were lousy. Hospital was a terrible experience. Should have meds in different languages. Our meds came with no instructions. We were taking one by mouth that was suppose to be dissolved in water which we found out from another patient. Dr has no bedside manners.

Our cruise only included water and coffee for each of the buffets. We were suppose to get unlimited beer and wine at lunch and dinner but we did not get that. Soda was available at $2.50 a cup .

We were suppose to get unlimited beer and wine at our meals and did NOT. Only got water. They didn't even have coffee available and suppose a soda beverage would have been available if we paid for it.

Very little American food. Didn't even know what some of the items were.

Pizza was only dough. They may have had better pizza that had to be purchased. Have been on many cruises and never heard of buying pizza.

When the ship was at sea , everyone wanted to go by the pool and it was almost impossible to find a chair. They had 2 pools that were not large enough for the number of passengers on the ship. We went to the pool when the ship was at a port.

Our waiter, Rudy, is the BEST waiter on the ship. We did not go to the dinners every night but the nights we were there he could NOT have been any better. He deserves a raise.

We were expecting more as we paid for a premium room. In our opinion, this was not a premium room. We expected a room at least with a porthole and larger. However, Effren, who cleaned our cabin did a SUPERIOR JOB. As soon as we requested anything, he was right there and did his job well. He certainly deserves a raise as he is a hard worker. We loved him.

Ship tip

Very few of the crew speak English so there is a language barrier. Food was lousy at buffet. If you want anything other than water, be sure to purchase a beverage package. Be sure to take out insurance. The hospital is just awful and sure you will need to go back several times. I was at the hospital prior to 11am which is their closing. Because I had to wait for the doctor which brought me 20 min past 11:00, when I left and got charged an extra $60 for overtime which was not my fault. BUY INSURANCE !!

We had to go to buffet because we were sick and did not go to the dinners but the buffets were almost the same daily and lousy.

Sounds like you went on Costa to go to the Dr. That was your problem, not the Costa.

Sounds like you booked through a terrible travel agent who was unfamiliar with Costa Cruises. Try to find someone who is knowledgeable about the cruise industry.
