Great cruise by jetsvettes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Great staff, great food, overall great time.  We requested foam pillows due to our allergies and the room steward changed them out right away.  We still suffered allergy problems, possibly from feathered comforters or all the fabric in the room that collects dust particles.  Hopefully, some day cruise lines will make the rooms allergy friendly for sufferers.  We sail again in November on Princess.  The watch store manager gave me a great deal on a new watch.

Very nice cruise, a little herd-like for land portion by mickeybf3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise was great, best food we have had on a cruise.  The ship is showing some age (rust on ourdoor metal railings, worn carpet) and needs some refurbishing, (apparently 12 rooms were flooded during our cruise and we were aware of several leaks around the ship).

The land portion was run excellently.  We liked how everything was handled, baggage and all.  Made that portion very easy especially given that we were in 3 different hotels over four nights.  However, it was at times like herding cattle when we were getting in buses.  If you can do a little more on your own that could be avoided.

No entertainment. Boring. I could only look at water and glaciers for so long. by dianeg3009

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Dinner was my favorite part. Buffet was the worse I've eaten on any cruise line. I asked for someone to come and check my hot water because the knob was stuck in the warm position but no one came.

wasting money & time by bc2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The entertainment program was not good, too little good events.  The "show" are mostly concentrate in dining time, that need to rush to finish the meal.  The theater used to talk about the shopping & play wild life movies, just like watching discovery channel in TV at home. Boring . . .

Coral Princess to Alaska's Inner Passage by Bruin76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The best aspect of this trip was Princess' logistic management transporting passengers and luggage to each location of the land portion of this trip.  In every instance, in every city, our luggage was in our hotel room BEFORE we arrived...and our hotel check in was pre-arranged by the tour with our keys presented to us in advance.

It had been suggested to us prior to reserving, that this type of land package should not be arranged privately, but rather to incorporate with the Princess cruise.  After taking the trip, I understand.  The "resorts" by and large are far away from "cities" and trains and buses are necessary to go anywhere.  There are large expanses of land without cell service and being stranded anywhere evokes eerie feeling of becoming bear sushi.  Oh Wait! We never saw any bears!

The scenery is beautiful everywhere, but there are far fewer animals to be seen than the chamber of commerce would have you believe.  The resorts are  lovely, but the rooms are rustic, 'think' motel 6 with a 30" flat screen tv.  Being the first cruise of the season, staffing and kinks had not been worked out fully.  Not all of the staff had arrived at the properties yet, nor had the food supplies!  The hot tubs were not turned on yet!  With a few exceptions,  the staff everywhere were very polite and helpful.

As for the ship, it is a basic Princess.  Having cruised with them numerous times, the rooms look the same from boat to boat.  I believe the room amenities have been dumbed down, forcing several requests for robes, for instance.  Despite having pre-requested them online, our cabinet steward said they were no long available unless we were in a full size suite.  By the first evening, he was able to acquire some.

Sadly the steak restaurant is gone, and Sabitinis was marginal at best.  We have always enjoyed going there but despite the excellent service, the food did not make the grade.  We heard this from several others onboard as well.  I am not deterred, and am looking forward to another Princess cruise later this year.

HIghlights included the piano bar entertainer, Jerre Ring, whom we watched every night and a magic show.  Both were excellent.

Good but old by theverotto1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

My wife and I spent 4 days on the Coral Princess and it was a great time however we were the youngest couple by about 10 years. It doesn't bother us however the ship seems to be made for a more mature group (retired people) in that shows start earlier and aren't very long, meals are earlier in general, and buffets/food bars close earlier. Besides being aimed toward an older age group everything was excellent, the rooms were very nice and well kept, the service was second to none, and the staff was very friendly and helpful I will defiantly go again!

Disappointing by lnuch5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We had done a few massages and they were great! Seemed like we didn't have enough time to relax. It seemed like shows were at the same time as another or it was full.  weather was a little too cool so it prohibited us from going in pool.

Loved our Cruise! by dlbrowning1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

So I LOVED  our cruise! I just wish we would have gone for a 7 to 10 day cruise! I LOVED your cruise director team!!!!! We were at each game night that you had at the explores lounge and HAD SO MUCH FUN! I also loved the morning show! The only thing that was a real bummer that we would change next time is getting a assigned time to eat! That to me was the biggest negative on our trip. I would also encourage adding smoothies. I have intestinal problems and so I need yogurt (Probiotics) everyday! Yogurt ice cream would work too. By the end of the week my gut was killing me. I did have yogurt but I needed more! We are planning on finding another cruise soon! I wish that more cruises would start from San Francisco and end in San Francisco because we live close to S.F., we would diffidently cruise more!  Oh one more thing the stewards who cleaned our room were amazing! Our food stewards were just as amazing! Thanks again for so much fun!  The Browning'sLove

Panama Canal Full Transit Cruise by Nsardesai

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Our overall experience for this cruise was excellent. Cabin service was great, the shows on the cruise were great....especially the magic shows by Alexander Great and Wayne Hoffman's mind reading shows will be remembered by us all for long time. Some stage shows were excellent as well with dazzling backdrops etc. Cruise director Susan was awesome in many ways. Atrium events were very good too.

My only pet peeves were...great variety of food at buffet but with mediocre quality (tastewise), paying for basic thing like water (which you need for dehydration), very cramped shower stall in the cabin and not enough cold water for shower (which was my main requirement). Another big disappointment was Alfredo's pizzeria in formal Sabatini's restaurant. The pizza cook miserably missed the mark and served absolutely horrible tasting pizzas....this is after getting used to New York and Chicago famous pizzas. Rest is fine.Yummy

Panama Canal Cruise by judith42

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The cruise was wonderful from beginning to end.  The one thing that upset me was that there was a Rum testing in which several drinks were given away.  At the end of the drawing I was drawn for a free bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum that I was told would be held for me until our departure at VanCouver.  When we disembarked, we were told that no bottle was waiting for us.  One of the shore people checked back on ship for us and was told there was no Rum drawings on board during the cruise.    Sorry but we did not get the names.  And of course there were Rum tastings.  All in all a great experience and looking forward to an Alaska Cruise in the near future but a sour ending over such a small thing.

Cruising with Croal Princess by aliceluo1000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I was not impressed by this cruise ship. The food on the board was definitely on the budget. My room was licking waster from the ceiling and its soaking wet for two days. Later on we found out that there were several rooms on the same floor has the same or worse problems. We had specialty dinning one night and the seafood we had was frozen for too long, that was also the first time I didn't finish eating crab legs. The shower wasn't functioning well on my room so did the TV remove control. On the formal nights when serves lobsters. The size of the lobsters been served were surprisingly small.

Panama cruise by sisndhos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The service provided was exceptional. The ship had some mechanical problem and we were 5 hours without moving. Because of this we were unable to port at Cartagena Columbia which was really disappointing. We were compensated  financially but still would have liked to see Cartagena. The cost of shore excursions were a bit pricey compared to other cruises I have been on

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

We have taken cruises from various Florida ports, but this was our best yet!

EVERYTHING was enjoyable, and we loved the food the entertainment, the crew....and loved the piano styles of Ray Couzzins.  Got to revisit the Canal

again since Navy days.

10 DAY PANAMA CANAL -ROUND TRIP by Cruiser121

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The CORAL PRINCESS has sewer problems, which we understand from other passengers this has been a problem before and apparently has not been corrected. The forward elevator areas on all decks is where the smell are most prominent, but are also noticeable in other areas.  The public restrooms seem to always in need of cleaning. Our mini-suite was not up to our expectations in that the beds were not set up to our pre-cruise request prepared on-line. The balcony deck was covered with paint chips and the furniture was dirty.  Bathroom did not have any hand lotions or other items normally found in hotels. Towels were sometime not returned after cleaning, ie: no wash cloths or only one large towel. Did not have a mini-bar.  So, I am not sure what I got for the price of my mini-suite other that having more square footage, which is why we get them. This is the second cruise in succession that a PRINCESS ship has had engine room problems which has caused us to miss port calls. This time the at sea repairs caused us to miss the port of Cartagena and we sailed directly to the Panama Canal to meet our schedule there.  The food onboard was very good and service in the dinning room was also good.  Entertainment/Shows were very good.  Thanks Kathy for the Rose Flower Vase and the Chocolate Covered Strawberries....very nice!!!  Gordon and Joan Bell

Ship seemed outdated and not enough activitities scheduled. by rswitmer5

Food wasn't very enjoyable and seemed like the same ole thing.  This cruise rated next to bottom of cruises we've taken.  Tours were very expensive for what you got!
