Review summary

I recently sailed (March 2008) on the Celebrity Summit through the southern Caribbean. It was my first cruise with Celebrity and I will defiantly cruise with them again. The Summit was a fabulous ship, well kept, and easy to navigate for a first timer. I had a balcony room that was very clean and well laid out. The only spot of trouble on our voyage was a power outage while in Bonaire for an hour. The power outage was much less disruptive than it could have been since our captain had managed to dock us even though we were scheduled to tender into Bonaire. The staff handled the disruption with good humor and grace and ensured that the inconvenience to the passengers was as minor as possible. The only snags were waiting in line to re-board the ship while we were manually checked in after our excursions and delaying dinner for an hour. The Summit is scheduled to go into dry-dock in a few weeks for significant maintenance and refreshing so this should not be an issue in the future. The enormous Spa on board is a great feature. The Spa caf has great healthy food choices and the adult only pool is a peaceful oasis. The spa treatments were lovely, however, be prepared for a hard sell on the products by the clinicians.

Truly the friendliest staff afloat.

Ship Quality

Easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

Had a balcony room. Good sized for a shipboard room with adequate closet space and storage in the bathroom. Everything was very clean although the bedspread and pillow sham covers looked a little tired. That should be fixed during the refurbishment at dry dock.
