Review summary

We had 26 people for a family reunion, ages 1 to 74, so I picked this as a compromise and it turned out great. There was good disco for the teens-20s, lectures and such for us oldies, good children’s activities. I was most impressed by the physical appearance. My last two cruises were on Silversea and Windstar, and imo the Solstice is way prettier than either of them. It has a nice airy feel. And the food was just as good! Endicott arm was a pretty fjord but it really didn’t stack up to Hubbard Glacier or College Fjord, and getting to Juneau at 1.30 pm wasn’t great. But we had to fit our cruise into one week.

Embarkation

Top marks! They got us on the ship quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I usually cruise luxury lines and was pleasantly surprised. The buffet food is reasonably good and the dinner in the dining room very good!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The best thing for me was that there was something for everyone. We had small kids to seniors. We all had fun! The trivia was not well-run and held in an awkward spot.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The best stage shows I’ve seen on a cruise, and very good musicians throughout! A huge plus.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
I was not so close to these activities but the kids seemed to be happy.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room service started out bumpy, but I think our cabin attendant got sick. This was straightened out quickly. At this price point, I have to say, service was tremendous.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The atrium and glass elevator were gorgeous. This is a beautiful ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Small and a bit shabby, but comfortable for me. My wife was a bit more critical but she’s spoiled! lol. The bathroom was well laid out.
