Overall, we are returning! August next time! Thanks.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Arrived at 11:30. Onboard at 11:45! Quick and pretty easy. Just remain calm and polite. Ask for help, look carefully for signs - take your time and you’ll save time. And be sure to do everything on the App first.
Biggest surprise on embarking? After 6 days of email reminders from Celebrity about being tested and doing the ArriveCan, they never asked to see either!!! We talked to at least 10 other couples ….. and only one said they were asked. Another difference: our key, or Sea Pass, was in our room on arrival.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate mostly at the Lumanae restaurant. Wonderful service and food. Blu was okay …. Beware that anything on their “clean” menu is not cooked with sauces, oils, or butters. It goes for healthy - which can also mean bland.
Tuscan Grille was our favorite specialty place!
Gorgeous atmosphere and lots of window tables. Best food - mostly steaks and Italian. Went once to the French restaurant, Murano, but it was too rich for me …. a long night after……
Be sure to hit the Mast Grille at lunch for the best burgers and fries. It’s outside, but you can easily take it in to eat.
Entertainment

Enjoyed daytime lectures. They were interesting and entertaining. The “Buble boys” were good. Silent Disco in Michael’s Club was a hoot!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Clean and resupplied often by our great steward! Having an aft facing cabin with a nice balcony is perfect for an Alaskan cruise. I just wish their blackout curtains were truly blackout for the sun is out so early! Didn’t watch much tv, but the number of channels was impressive!
Ship tip
Bring one or two clothespins to keep curtains closed tight. On beautiful days, find the two chairs located on each side of the aft elevators on deck 15. Comfortable and gorgeous views - also quiet.
Love this small town! Such charm. (Try hard to shop at stores owned by locals). The free Gold rush museum at the visitor center was fascinating! (Nice bathrooms there). A good 15 min walk from pier to town, but not bad. Can buy a $3 ticket to ride in - not really necessary.
Our train excursion was cancelled so we booked the “To the Summit” one. A 75 min ride on a small bus out to the Pass. Elevation was high but what scenery! The Klondike highway runs parallel to the train tracks - same scenery, a third of the price! Also, a smoother ride and you stop for photos!!! Great guide!
Great city to walk around in! Loved Creek Street and the Totem Heritage Center. Bought well-priced gifts at large gift shop on pier. It was Sunday so we were able to take the free “port to pew” van to the Catholic Church for Mass.
Pouring rain. And our pier was the furthest. You had to buy a $5 ticket on a bus to make the 1.5 - 2 mile trip to shore / city. Not walkable. Long lines, with no cover for waiting passengers to board a bus.
My son and I did the Alaska cruise in 2018 on the Solstice. Beautiful trip! Juneau was rainy, windy and so crowded. I think I gave it a one star! Skagway and Ketchikan were much better!
Glad you enjoyed your trip!
Thanks for the review, doing Mexican Rivera on her in October. (P.S. our current Alaska trip, except for the 23rd, Monday, first sea day, has been sunny…that is Alaska for you.)
