Review summary

Really enjoyed Aqua class, loved the Persian garden. Excellent cabin stewards. Great shows and guest performers but house and lounge bands need improvement. Looked the photo staffs approach to more spontaneous pics, even bought 3! Beautiful itinerary, as NZ is just beautiful. Very enjoyable cruise director and Activities Staff, very fun and engaging. Captain Alex might be the most fun CRUISE SHIP CAPTAIN, ever!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We upgraded to Aqua Class so Blu speciality restaurant was included. Food was good, not fantastic and service was good. A few nights we opted to eat dinner at the buffet which had a lot of options and you could special order a steak or chicken breast.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the Activities team events, crew vs. passengers, line dancing, golf, and special theme parties. Loved! The Silent Disco nights, great fun.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage shows were very good, special guest performers were excellent. Fun girl DJ but the disco, guy DJ was dull. Great house band for the theatre. However, in comparison to the Sun Princess lounge, and pool bands, Solstice is greatly lacking here, their house band Bristol something was just ok, not great.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room stewards were exceptional. Goof wait staff but bar staff in the buffet was a bit under par. Wine service in Blu was SLOW!!!! Bar service in Blu was excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Well maintained, easy layout.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was fine, but we had accepted an Aqua Class upgrade and lost our mid ship, Port side balcony cabin on level 9. We were on level 11 and were surprised that the rarest cabin forward was very comfortable.

Ship tip

Expect good service, great shows and ok lounge music.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
We did Sydney on our own, as our hotel was walking distance from the port. Quaint and beautiful city and the Opera house is an amazing highlight.

Cruise Milford Sound

3 out of 5
As our overnight 3 day excursion whisked us off the ship, we only got to experience a glimpse of Milford Sound, but we were impressed.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

4 out of 5
Beautiful gardens at the train station, wish we would have had more time to explore this great city.

Akaroa, New Zealand

5 out of 5
We took the independent transfer to Christchurch and only had a few hours in Akaroa. In hind sight, I would have skipped Christchurch and spent the day exploring Akaroa, great port, nice shops and restaurants.

Tauranga, New Zealand

4 out of 5
Enjoyed this port but nothing really stuck out

Auckland, New Zealand

4 out of 5
I did Auckland independently as it was SuperBowl Sunday in the States (Monday in Auckland) Found some nice restaurants, did the Sky Dome, enjoyed part off the game at a bar on the dock, near the ship. Didn’t get to Piha beach, not sure if we had enough time.

Bay Of Islands, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Wonderful pop up market great, authentic New Zealand products to buy. Enjoyed the market and nearby restaurants.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Celebrity knows how to move passengers quickly, over all good job.
