Review summary

Satisfactory experience but not as outstanding as previous Celebrity cruises we have taken.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Satisfactory, although we got mixed messages regarding passports. Altho my wife and I brought passports, my wife had hers in her carry on bag. In spite of being told we DID NOT NEED PASSPORTS, the Celebrity lady at the front entrance would NOT admit my wife and said we MUST show her passport. Luckily we were able to run back to where they were loading bags and found her bag and her passport. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH THAT HASSLE. Both our Cruised Only agent and Celebrity said no passport required. Was not a great way to start our cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Although main dining room service was outstanding - we had a great waiter and the maitre de was extremely helpful and courteous - we were dissapointed in the quality of the food in both the dining room and the buffet. Having been on many Celebrity cruises we always thought the food quality was excellent. That was not the case for this cruise. The meals seemed to be overly fancy and some of the items were tough, chewy, and not good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools, fitness center, opportunities to walk and exercise were outstanding.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
All our grandchildren - ages 15, 10 and 7 really enjoyed the kid's activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Particularly great service from our waiter and room stewards. Much appreciated.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Yes clean, easy to navigate, and beautifully designed.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Outstanding. Really appreciated the veranda.

Ship tip

Book a room with a veranda. Lower your expectations about quality of the food.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
No, visited on our own.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Yes; outstanding excursion wildlife and crab feast.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
Thought two earlier cruises we took went by Hubbard Glacier which was a much better experience that Endicott and Dawes.

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Yes, Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake. Just ok.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Liked it very much. Did Railway excursion with entire family (9 people) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Victoria, British Columbia

2 out of 5
No, not enough time to do anything meaningful. If there is one recommendation for improvement I would make is to ensure more time in Victoria. Wanted to spend more time at the Gardens than was allowed and really missed not being able to have high tea at the Empress. Two previous Alaskan cruises we took allowed us to do that, but docking at 5:30 doesn't give you that opportunity

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Ok, but very time consuming.
