Review summary

Everyone on board speaks with a THICK accent. Making it difficult to understand. I knew when they had pen and paper in hand, which was often, to nod "no". Because they were trying to upsell me on something. I've felt less pressured at a time share presentation. Then there was the spa. Oh, the spa. Booked around $400 in services pre cruise. When it was all said and done, my total was over $2300. Why? Because rather than just do what i had already paid for, I was up sold on every aspect of the service. That being said, the staff was wonderful. It's the management and the cruiseline. Now to disembarking, had what i consider a "premium" room, yet my bags were last ones off. I had another cruise booked over Christmas but thanks to this nightmare, I canceled. Don't even care that I lost my deposit. It will probably save me money not to go on amother time share cruise.

Embarkation

Besides being bombarded with 20 crew trying to sell me a drink package and shore excursions I already had, it was fine.

Didn't venture out much because I got tired of being pressured to buy something everytime I left my cabin.

A dui 20 years ago and Canada would not allow me entry. But they criticize America on not opening our southern border to unvettted immigrants.

Disembarkation

Crew member said ," check your bags early" " the earlier, the better". There are literally 50 staff waiting to unload bags for the 20 of us that were dumb enough to check our bags. We were the first ones off and have been waiting for 40 minutes. I could have gotten back on ship, searched and found my bag and been through customs already. Been standing here an hour. This is fuking ridiculous.

When getting upsold on something, a trick I learnt a long time ago is to politely say "No thank you". Works a treat for me, every time.

Either a fake review or an entitled idiot.

This really seems like a fake review. All I ever hear about the Solstice has been great and we were on in 2015. Loved it. And to get a poor rating on food is very hard to believe.

It's so odd how experiences on the exact same ship can be soooo very different. We had Aqua Class cabins with the Go Best promotion which included unlimited drinks, unlimited wifi, gratuities and OBC. We pre purchased photos. After the initial tour of the spa with the sales pitch, we were never approached for an up sell again. We had a very serene cruise and felt the least nickel and dimed on this cruise than any others in the past.
