Review summary

We were quite disappointed with the amount of money we paid to be eating the EXACT SAME MENU that we had in Oct 2016 & June 2017. EXACT FOOD! Only the quality varied based on where they getting the products. Will we do another Celebrity, yes. We are do Edge in Nov 2019. Considering it is a new ship it should be a better experience. Overall for the amount of money that we paid for Suite Class other lines such as Seabourn/Regent/Crystal are of higher quality.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We were in/out of check in in less than 20 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We were in Suite Class so had our own restaurant but were allowed to order from Main Dining room as well. The quality of the food wasn't what it was on Enquinox in Europe Oct 2016, but it was definately better than Alaska in 2017. Sushi on 5 was great both times, and it is better to order al carte. At $30 per person we had a hard time getting through $50 worth.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Pretty boring. Not many activities, especially for four days at sea. Maybe we are a little more geared to the active style that happens in the Caribbean. I was hard pressed to find at least a couple thing each day.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We don't do shows, but the music venues were good.

Children's Programs

Do have them, and don't want to see them in the "Adults Pool"

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We had the same butler on the Alaska cruise, and she had definitely gained confidence in the new position. Which was nice because she seemed really timid in Alaska. Luminea staff is always great & the bartenders around the pool area were friendly as well. Casino staff was hit/miss. Keep in mind we had just seen most of these people 6 months before. Some remembered us & that was a nice touch. Michaels Club staff was always great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
So when we booked this cruise on our Barcelona cruise on Equinox in Oct 2016 we were told the ENTIRE SHIP was getting a complete update/overhaul. On the Alaska June 2017 trip, we found that to simply not be true. Maybe they got some new linens or something, but it was definitely old carpet/furniture/with general wear & tear that you wouldn't expect after being in dry dock less than a year before.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was what we expected since this was our 3rd trips in a Suite. We prefer the aft suites, but be careful of deck number as you can end up under buffet or pool areas and the noise/scrapping of moving furniture doesn't create for a relaxing time.

Ship tip

They just had a Noro Virus outbreak 2 cruises before ours. I only found info about it because of online reviews. I don't believe in that Purell crap, it clearly doesn't work. Learn not to touch railings & always wash your hands with hot soapy water in the bathrooms outside of every eating establishment.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Nice for a big city, and we are not city people. The harbor area had great walking paths, the Botanical Garden, a great Asian district as well as the City Life Zoo/Aquarium.

Noumea, New Caledonia

4 out of 5
We did the Zodiac tour to Ile Duex Canard. Friendly staff, over priced drinks, and a very small island.

Lifou Isle, New Caledonia

4 out of 5
We took a shuttle to another beach on the other side of the island & were the only people there instead of being at the packed beaches around the pier. Good snorkeling.

Isle Of Pines (Ile Des Pins), New Caledonia

4 out of 5
Probably the best. The local people were super friendly. I loved practicing my french with the little kids. Snorkeling not the best, again an over packed beach next to the pier area.

Disembarkation

Easy & fast. We were in our hotel room by 10 am.
