Review summary

Perfect balance of sightseeing and rest, great food, opportunity to meet new people, even if just for an evening or a chat. On board entertainment could be better.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and surprisingly short. Aqua class gave us a fast track.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Aqua class dining was excellent in all respects, Murano world class. Sushi restaurant needs an expanded menu and better quality, Tuscan Grille was disappointing- just basic Italian with inattentive service. Buffet was always enjoyable, lots of choices, always a great back up when you don't know what you want. Bars were great: martini bar excellent and entertaining, Erol in the lounge world class barkeep. Solstice bar at the stern great for late nite cigar smokes, pool bar- understaffed

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
gym was great, plenty of equipment. jogging track useful, indoor pool more important on an Alaska cruise with the cool weather than expected. great for naps.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Quasar club was boring, DJ was good, maybe it was the crowd. Should be more band activity, talent was very good but they always played for too short a time and you never knew where or who. Should be more nitelife music.. Comedian was fine, "show" was a joke

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All was perfect

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Surpisingly, excellent and in great shape

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
All good, shower much better than expected. Roomier than expected.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

I'm there often so no special comment but always a great place

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
fun place, easy to walk around, totem museum interesting, salmon spawning cool. Could have done without Duck ride

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Town is boring and disappointing but gateway to the Glacier so that part is 5 star.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
loved it, just like the mining town you expect but perfectly modern infrastucture. The White Pass train ride is fantastic- scenery you can't believe and you get an understanding of what the gold rush folks had to go through just to get to the fields.

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Also, easier than expected. The new service to check you bags onto your flight directly from the ship is brilliant, easy and the best idea ever.
