Review summary

Took a 10 day Mediterranean Cruise on the Celebrity Solstice. Wow-what a ship. It was like being in an exclusive resort. This was our 7th cruise and first on Celebrity. This ship had a swimming pool for adults only and the lounge chairs all had these thick cushions plus there were hanging swing chairs and lounge couches great to use and much more comfortable than any other cruise ship we have been on. The entertainment was excellent and so were the shore excursions. Seeing all those wonderful old places was so fastinating. Tour guides all did a great job as well. One of the most unique areas was the "lawn". Actual grass area on the upper deck were you could play yard games. Great feature and it really made you feel like you were not on a ship. I used the internet cafe and was able to keep in touch with our children that were back in the states. All in all this was one gorgeous ship and we had a marvelous time with this cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was great but some of the dishes were just a little to exotic and lots of seafood which not everyone enjoys.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All the entertainment was great. There was even a July 4th concert on the "lawn" for the Americans on the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was excellent and took care of our every need. The staff at dinner was also great. Very friendly and made dinner a fun time.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was the neatest ship we have every cruised. Having the green lawn area was so cool and being able to play games on it was something quite special.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was always neat and tidy and he even lined up our shoes and organized them

Ports of call

Naples, Italy

Went to the Cameo factory and walked around. Very dirty city with trash on the street and sidewalks. Would only go here to see Pompeii.
Don't Miss: Have to see Pompeii-this is amazing.

Rhodes, Greece

5 out of 5
Did a walking tour and ate at a little Greek restuarant to sample authentic Greek food.

Messina, Sicily

5 out of 5
Don't Miss: Tourmina and Mt Etna

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
The most beautiful of the islands we visited.
Don't Miss: If you are adventurous-take a donkey ride down the mountain

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
A must see and don't forget to do some shopping. Can take a taxi back and forth to the ship but you will need to bargain with them
Don't Miss: Acropolis

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

5 out of 5
We shopped at the Turkish market and if you love to debate pricing, this is the place to do it.
Don't Miss: Make sure and see Ephesus

Mykonos, Greece

5 out of 5
Beutiful island-had lunch at a restaurant by the sea.
Don't Miss: We just walked the island and enjoyed the scenery. There are neat windmills to see as well.

Pros: Seeing the ancient ports and the beautiful Greek Islands

Cons: Staying in Rome the night prior to the cruise and the day after before fyling out
