Borowiec Review by Cruiser53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The excursions during the cruise were informative, enjoyable and will be remembered for a long, long time. Cruising AQUACLASS, the food at the BLU restaurant was delicious. The additional cost to eat at other specialty restaurants was not worth the additional upcharge. Cabin service was excellent. The basic beverage package should be more inclusive, i.e. typical sized martinis at all bars and lounges. Being repeatedly asked to upgrade the beverage package seems "nickel and diming." The onboard entertainment was not on par with what we had come to expect on a Celebrity cruise. It seemed amateurish rather than polished and coordinated. The BEATLES tribute was most enjoyable and one female singer (name forgotten) was good.

British Isles Celebrity Survey by MaryHelen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The itinerary was great except for Waterford.

I would definitely recommend both the itinerary and Celebrity to my friends.

The food in the Main Dining Room could use improvement both in the variety and the quality of the food.

Dinner food quality has deteriorated. by rsimstw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Cruise was as expected with some wonderful excursions. Biggest disappointed was the quality of food offered inthe main dining room. We had been on 4 previous cruises with fond memories of dinners. This cruise has greatly changed our opinion for the worse regarding Celebrity.

Celebrity Silhouette by SailDog

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The service provided by the stateroom attendants was very good. The room was clean on a timely base. The main dining room service was excellent, provided by our waiter. He did an excellent job, was knowledgeable of the daily menu and provided excellent information. The menu selection was changed almost daily; the quality of food was unsurpassed.

Our only complaint was on a three excursion. The first problem was the Guernsey Military Occupation. The young guide either didn't get the proper information or was not planned very well by the excursion staff. We arrived early an hour before the scheduled museum opening. So we loaded back on the bus and proceeded to the next attraction. That was closed as well, so time had passed with all the driving, the driver decided to return to the first museum.

The second excursion was Blarney Castle & Woolen Mill Shop. Once we arrived at Blarney Castle we walked over to the Castle. There was such a long queue line to climb the steps to the stone; it would have taken two (2) hours. Our guide said we did not have enough time. So we never had a chance to go into the Castle or to kiss the Blarney Stone.

The third excursion we had a problem was Leeds Castle, Canterbury & Kent Scenic Drive. We spent so much time on the scenic drive we only had fifteen (15) minutes to tour Leeds Castle. There were at least six or seven buses leaving from the ship at the same time, plus school kids and other visitors. There just were too many people arriving at the same time in addition to spending too much time getting to the Castle. I will say the Celebrity did refunded 30% of the excursion cost. I thought the refund should have been more. .

The excursions mentioned above were not very well planned and there was not sufficient time given to see all of the attractions. All in the entire cruise on Celebrity Silhouette was very good and we would cruise Celebrity again.

An Awesome Adventure by bhinkebein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The food, our room, the staff were all top rated. The ten stops were very good and the tours were fantastic. We were disappointed that we could not take the river cruise in Paris due to the rain and high water but this was not caused by the ship. We would recommend this cruise to anyone.

Celebrity Silhouette 12 night British Isles cruiseLady by gdagnan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We enjoyed the ports and itinerary. Ship is attractive and easy to navigate. Entertainment was very good. The two tours we booked through ship was very good. Had problems with embarkation and room location was not good. Very noisy and far away from everything. We would recommend the cruise. Biggest problem is that you never have enough time in port!

All the ports were interesting . I loved the Waterford crystal tour and of course Liverpool .

The ship was clean , the food and drinks were fabulous . They go out of their way to do the little extras.

On board ship by richardstl2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Everything on board the ship was excellent. We would have liked to see new items added to the shops during the cruise. All of the shops had the same inventory at the end of the cruise that was there at the beginning. We were happy with everything except the excursions.

Wonderful, worthwhile cruise of the Baltic countries. by 44garry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Favorite part was the places we visited. It was on our "bucket list" and we wanted to see other cultures similar to ours and their progress in dealing with 21st century issues as global warming, carbon emissions, flooding, etc.

Our ship, the Silhouette, was beautiful. It was the 3rd time we cruised on her and enjoyed the cabins and lounges and the "green" 15th level. Lovely place to watch ship go in and leave ports esp. the channel leading into Stockholm.Train excursion into Berlin was well worth the money. The coach and tour guides were knowledgeable and accommodating. We also went on a river cruise in Berlin as part of this tour. Lunch was at a lovely restaurant in the old part of Berlin in an unusual area. For us,it was  an unforgettable place.

We would highly recommend this cruise to anyone. We enjoyed our balcony cabin even though the mornings were cool. The afternoons were in the mid 70`s and a great place to relax before dinner.

The tour for the Hermitage cpuld be improved. We were dropped off into a line of 300-400 people in the rain,at the Hermitage even thought we already bought our tickets to go in.We have talked to 2 other couples who took the same tour previously and they both  bi-passed the line-ups and walked straight into the building with their guide. Why did we have to line up and  wait 1 and 1/2 hrs. in the rain?

Great experience by jchristiansen9

Our overall experience on the Silhouette was excellent.  Our cabin was clean and comfortable; food in all of the restaurants we visited was very good and service was outstanding.  We loved all of the ports visited, and the excursions we took in St Petersburg and Berlin were wonderful.  We will look to cruise on Celebrity again.

Could not have asked for a better vacation by Cruiser760

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

First, for an early May cruise to the Baltic Capitals, we packed jackets and sweaters.  We had perfect weather for each of the six ports.  Rostock, Germany, was a sleepy but charming village.  We took a 20 minute train ride to Warnmuden, a delightful and picturesque fishing community.  Tallinn, Estonia, was the surprise; charming, ancient, quaint.  Don't miss the Seaplane Museum or the KGB Museum - both true gems.  In St. Petersburg we hired a State-authorized private tour company for the two days.  It seems that many others on the ship had several back-and-forth to the ship tours, a waste of time given the initial difficulties with their immigration system.  If you're in good physical shape, go private so you can see it all.  Helsinki, a relatively young town, was almost a disappointment after the opulence of St. Petersburg.  Stockholm has so much to offer but was the shortest port call.  If you see only one thing in Stockholm, be certain it is the Vasa Museum (but we did shake hands with the King, Queen, and President of Chile in a stroke of luck).  For Copenhagen, the final port, we used a HOHO Red Bus tour then a nice walk from the royal palace to the ship with a stop at the must-see Mermaid statue.

Celebrity Silhouette 4/23-Nancee & Bruce by bnrein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The cruise was wonderful. It is a beautiful ship. Food in main dining room was good. Specialty restaurant's were better. When I first picked this cruise I wasn't

sure on the  ports. But they were very interesting and each one had something different to offer. Went to the Eskegov & Kronberg Castle. Rode the sandworm to the spit in Skagen. The whole town came out to greet the ship and they shot off cannons and the school band played in Fredericia, Denmark. Loved the Martini bar on the ship. Ended in Amsterdam going out to the tulip gardens and fields. Will cruise with Celebrity again.

Fabulous trip by redvelvet6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

The cruise was     all or more than expected.  The service from all the employees was definitely 5 star.  The ship was very clean and kept up throughout the trip.  I enjoyed the lectures from the visiting speakers.  Their topics were very interesting to me.  For the most part, the food was good.  There was a variety on the menus and pleasantly presented.  I enjoyed the ports of call and the excursions that I took.

A very successful cruise and most enjoyable by crwoodyatt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

Our past cruise experience has been focussed on smaller ships. The Celebrity Silhouette proved conclusively that the bigger ships have a lot to offer and at a good quality level. We know that to be successful in this mass transit business you have to have good management. And this was truly reflected.

We will do it again!

Very nice first cruise by edwinc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

Food in MDR was surprisingly good and we didn't feel the need for specialty dining which we cancelled after one meal in Qsine. Still too many sales pitches all over the ship but loved the sea days and grass on top deck. Doing tai chi barefoot in the middle of the north Atlantic was pretty wonderful. Ship's public spaces and veranda cabin were very comfortable. Service first rate.

Disappointed by malcolmarthurs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

After a very good start in Ft Lauderdale, the boarding process being less than twenty minutes so a big plus for the shore based staff there. After a pleasant crossing of the Atlantic, upon reaching Lisbon I'm afraid things did get rather

unpleasant. We object to having to suffer continual noise from maintenance work while in port or at sea.

Also object at mid seventy years old to having to wait in line for 1hour 30 mins

for our passports to be inspected, and not be given the opportunity to do so in the port of our destination. Celebrity were given the chance of showing us what they can do and have disappointed. Next year we will go back in January on Queen Victoria and return on April 13th on Independence of the Seas.

1st cruise by colpup13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

Wonderful experience, but wish I had talked with some experienced cruisers.  There is so much to do and the time goes so quickly, but it is also very weather driven.  When you're planning heavily for outside activities you need backup plans although many of the inside activities were not of interest.  The food selection was outstanding and I tried many foods I've never eaten before. Finally, all the cruise staff I interacted with were wonderful.  I certainly plan to cruise again on Celebrity with all that I learned.

Fabulous cruise by nlcampbell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Transatlantic

Going transatlantic is so relaxing -- I read four books!  The Celebrity Silhouette is a beautiful ship, the service was excellent, the captain was really personable -- his morning announcement were hilarious!  The only thing that disappointed me was the casino policy -- on other ships, you earn points which can be turned in for cash at the end of the cruise (or any time, really), and after so many points, you earn free drinks in the casino.  This one had no such perks.  You earned points that appeared to be cash, but when I went to get my $46 the last day, I was informed that it could only be applied to a machine, not given back in cash.  Anyway, small complaint compared to the good time we had.
