Great way to disconnect for 7 days and see some of the less visited islands!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
This cruise left late in the day, sailing at 8:30pm. Only issue was luggage was slow to the room. We boarded at approximately 4:30pm and had to ask our Stateroom Attendant for help in tracking down our bags at 7:00pm to dress for dinner.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We are big fans of the Tuscan restaurant for a 1 night upgrade to our evening meals. It did not disappoint this time-well worth the upgrade. Our main dining room food was good. Some challenges on the premium wine list being available in the dining room and across bars. If you upgrade to the premium drink package and do it for liquor, you wouldn't notice. If you are a wine fan, you often find no premium options available at the bars. Limited options in the main dining room. Our issue was escalated to Randy, the Head Sommelier for the boat. He helped with a free bottle for dinner one night of a nice wine.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We enjoyed a couples massage in the spa. We also spent good time in the Solarium room and pools. Solarium had "Family Time" 4pm - 7pm each day which did disrupt the quiet mood and crowded the soaking salt water pools and hot tubs. Outside of those hours the crew enforced the no children rules and kept the space quiet and relaxing.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We love the live music throughout the ship on Celebrity. This cruise did not disappoint! Great small ensembles, soloist, and stage show music, dancing and magic. The comedian was OK, but be careful if you sit in the first 5 rows or so as he calls out into the audience and includes you in the show.
Children's Programs
We didn't bring children on this cruise. There were programs for children and teens which appeared to be well attended.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Celebrity staff are off the charts in service and hospitality. We would call out the Concierge Staff on this cruise specifically - while 1 of our bags was delayed with the airline, Rose at the Concierge Desk took over the phone and coordination with United Airlines. Where we were at a loss on how to phone and coordinate, Rose called on Day 2 to let us know the bag was at our island stop and would be on board the boat by 4pm then immediately in our room. What a relief to take on that work and help us out!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We are LONG TIME fans of the Millennium Class of ships in the Celebrity fleet. Not too big. Not too many people. Easy to board. Easy to exit on shore excursions and on the last day. The ship was clean, well maintained and a joy to be aboard. Walk from bow to stern isn't too long.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We've stayed in this class of cabin multiple times on this class of ship. We have plenty of room for 2. Would prefer a couch over an oversized chair - but that is not a deal breaker for us. For this Caribbean trip, plenty of room for clothes to hang or be folded. When we've traveled to Alaska, the coats and warmer clothes get a little crowded, but still manageable. Baggage nested and then stored under the bed and out of the way for the week.
Ship tip
Book meals and excursions early. Options fill up fast and are unavailable or limited once on board.
We enjoyed the Gorge Swim portion of our excursion. The Sulfur Hot Springs were comfortable once you trained to breathe through your nose. Within our van visiting both - we were in the minority, most enjoyed the hot springs over the freshwater swim in the gorge.
We chose the George Washington House tour. Great for history. Interesting to learn about a US Founding Father from the perspective of an island hosting him while he was young and traveling with his brother.
Read the details carefully - our Jeep Tour had the word, "strenuous" in the fine print. It isn't too big a deal to get in and out of the back of the truck. It is a big deal to hold on and ride through the small, narrow mountain roads. Quite bumpy! Fun - but the strenuous portion is the ride. The view around the island and the stop in the rain forest park are worth it.
