This cruise was luxury in appearance only. Food and drink service were chronically understaffed resulting in long wait times for everything. Dinner became a 2 hour ordeal after a 30min wait with reservations. Food was overcooked and poor quality ingredients. Cheap fatty meats always cooked well done, burnt dry chicken and frozen European fish options despite sailing in Alaska. Entertainment onboard was non-existent with 1 show per night and 1-2 activities per day excluding onboard shopping. Everyone we met couldn't stop talking about what a disappointment this cruise was. Great itinerary but worst onboard experience I've ever had in 20+ cruises.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Understaffed or non existent service everywhere. Food was 5 star presentation and 1 star quality. Cheap fatty overcooked meats night after night.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Most of the days had few activities other than shop onboard. There was 1 main show per night and 2 small activities per day like trivia or silent disco.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Entertainment was like a high school drama program. Poor performers that had many guests walking out or not attending shows.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Food service was horribly understaffed. Dinner reservations had 30-45 min waits for a 1/3 full dining room and a mostly full ship. On a good day you got 1 drink with your meal they were too busy for refills. Bars had 20-25 min waits and no staff anywhere taking drink orders. Everything you wanted you had to get yourself.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship design is modern but cleaning staff were mostly replaced by automatic hand sanitizer stations that were rarely used. A covid outbreak occurred but celebrity didn't provide any information on the number of people quarantined.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was clean and spacious. Full shower was a decent size for a cruise ship.
We had the same experience recently on the Millennium. We’ve cruised Celebrity before so I know the level of service and quality of food they usually provide, and unfortunately this isn’t happening on the Millennium right now.
Too bad for your cruise. So many disappointments. This is happening so often now. I know they need to make some money, but, not at the expense of losing valuable customers. Maybe, because it is so hard to find help, they could drop sailings to no more than 75% of cabins sold for awhile.
So sorry this happened on your Alaska sailing. We cruise Celebrity often and were on Millennium Nov 2021 for a Caribbean itinerary. No staffing issues, plenty of bar staff and the food and service was great. Wonder what happened......
