Review summary

Not what we expected. If we didn't need to use up future cruise credit it definitely would be one and done.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
6 days before departure we received an email from Celebrity that the Covid tests we had scheduled (PCR) were no longer acceptable- Antigen tests only. After four confusing phone calls and one unanswered email we elected to get both tests. Since the protocol was changed six days before departure, Celebrity was no longer able to get tests to us. I was left scrambling and ultimately had them overnighted from an independent source. We had airport transfers and had no idea when we would arrive at the port. Therefore it was impossible to schedule a boarding time. We arrived an hour earlier than my best guess and we lined up with all the other early cruisers. Once the line started moving boarding was easy peasy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This was the first cruise (of 23 previous) I've eaten more dinners at the buffet than the main dining room.

Metropolitan Restaurant

3 out of 5

Certainly a HUGE disappointment after all the hype of the Celebrity commercials. The food was mediocre at best and our dinner waiter was inattentive.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the Solarium and the hot tub. I was a bit surprised the hot tub closed at 9:00 PM.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I enjoyed the theater show singers.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room stewart A+ Bar staff and Buffet staff A+

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness A+ Layout a nightmare. Ship navigation was done by the Celebrity app. There was no directional signage throughout the ship. (i.e you are here) There was informational signage at each elevator and inside the elevators. (listing what was on each deck) Without the app, you're lost.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved it. Spacious with ample storage.

Not our experience either. Never had problem finding anything. Our only complaint was the ice cream 🍨 machine always seemed to be down. Other than that we had a great time.

Interesting, since Celebrity's website still says PCR or antigen tests are acceptable. Pre-Cruise Testing Out of an abundance of caution, Celebrity Cruises requires all guests two years of age and older to present a digital or printed copy of negative COVID-19 test result in order to board any sailing.  All vaccinated guests are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result at the time of embarkation. This test may be taken as either as an Antigen or PCR test, conducted within two days of boarding the ship. Each guest is responsible for making their own arrangements with an accredited testing provider as well as covering all associated costs. Unvaccinated guests will be required to bring a negative PCR test conducted within three days of boarding. These guests will be given an additional COVID-19 Antigen test at the terminal prior to embarkation and on the day before disembarkation. The CDC has advised unvaccinated guests cannot be tested twice in one day as it may affect the accuracy of the test results, therefore the COVID-19 PCR test required before arriving at the terminal cannot be taken on boarding day. A registration link for required onsite testing at the terminal will be emailed separately.

Interesting, since they moved us to the Solstice I hope that we do not have the same navigational issues.
