Review summary

Would I do this cruise again, probably not. This has nothing to do with the Cruiseline. I took this cruise not for the ports but for the previous experience with Celebrity and to kick back and relax.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
The embarkation was horrible. As Aqua class cabin we are supposed to have expedited boarding. We had a 12:30 checkin instead we sat out in the cold until 2:00. When we entered the terminal it was obvious it was not suitable for the task at hand.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
No problem here except for local laws while in port. We had the classic drink package only to find out it was better that premium package. Celebrity added more and better beers. Gained 12 pounds, nuf said.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn’t participate in the activities but they did have many activities to keep you busy.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
I rated this low not because of the type of entertainment but for the noise level. My hearing was trashed due to 25 years around jet engines. I had to take my hearing aids out and put in ear plugs to make the audio bearable. Consequently we never went back the theatre. The lounge acts were great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Can’t begin to say enough for the staff. They will bend over backwards to make your cruise enjoyable

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We have sailed the Millennium befor and we are booked on her for the April 2023 Panama Canal trip. If you have other Celebrity ships other than Edge series you’ll find out they are laid out pretty much the same. However you can’t go from th back of the ship to front on deck 11. You have to go down to deck 10 thru the pool the back up to 11. That’s ok if it is not windy and raining.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Smaller than on the Solstice class ships but clean and comfortable.

Ship tip

Brush up on post cruise covid test if you are returning to the USA from a foreign port

Ports of call

Astoria, Oregon

A hidden jewel. The bus to town cost $15.00 which included the trolly. By the time we got to the end of town I wanted to go back to the ship. My wife spotted the trolly but I wanted to stay on bus. I gave in and I’m glad I did, it made the whole day enjoyable. The trolly is a must if you plan to stay in the town.

Santa Barbara, California

We booked a sightseeing bus excursion early and had a enjoyable time. There is a small agency that uses a stretched chop 1932 open air coup painted yellow that holds 8 people. Those who booked this said it was a blast.

San Francisco, California

What a slum. I wouldn’t suggest you walk past pier 39. Just within the last week (June 19,, 2023) there was a running gun battle from the bay bridge to pier 39 with injuries reported.

Victoria, British Columbia

Been to Victoria before and think it is a wasted port, Vancouver is way better

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Been here before, so much to see and do within walking distance. You can’t but have a good time in Vancouver

Disembarkation

Ok. The process of getting over 1,000 people and baggage off the ship went smoothly. My complaint is the lack of information on vaccination procedures for air travel. We bought the self administered test from the ship, however they printed the wrong app to download. We were told to get Abbots app but we needed Emed’s app. It took us slightly over one hour to complete the test for two people.
