Celebrity Millennium

14 Night Vietnam Philippines & Hong Kong (Singapore Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 18, 2020

Ship: Celebrity Millennium

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Coronavirus was always in the back of our minds but this did not stop what was otherwise a very good holiday.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Taxi to the pool deck took less than 15 mins, this would have only been 5 mins, but Singapore immigration took a while.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food on Celebrity is usually very good, but it is very clear that they are trying to force passengers into the speciality restaurants. You’ve no chance of a filet mignon in the main dining room. Additionally, tables for two are a bit of a joke - separated by as little as 3inches and 4-5 in a line together making an effective long table for 8-10. Absolutely no good for me as I’m deaf ....

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Celebrity don’t tend to have much in the way of extra activities, though the pools and gym we both very good.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Guest entertainers were excellent, but while the ships company had loads of energy and enthusiasm, we’ve seen much better on Celebrity

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service is unupiversally excellent with a couple of exceptions. If a bar runs out of a particular bee4 Orr wine, I don’t expect to be told to try another bar. The bartender should offer to go and get it for me. They also ran out of my wife’s. Favourite wine on day 10 of 14 which is disappointing, especially with all of the big ports where replenishments could have been sourced.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
A major improvement on the ore refit Millennium, but some of the Edge upgrades doesn’t suit us - boom boon music in the bars and pool deck, minimalist decor and some rather plasticky furniture, but still very nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As an older ship, our balcony stateroom Was a little larger than on more modern ships, and while the new furniture looks a little bland, it is exceptionally well designed from a storage perspective.

Ship tip

Stateroom tea making facilities are welcome, but use the tetley tea from the buffet restaurant!

Ports of call

Singapore

5 out of 5
Just an awesome city. We visited gardens by the bay and had lunch at the Marina Bay Sands. Both awesome.

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

4 out of 5
Nice location but very hot!

Boracay, Philippines

3 out of 5
Looks a Very pretty island form the ship but very basic indeed when you get there. Has a Beautiful beach though. The motorcycle and sidecar transport was an ‘experience’!

Manila, Philippines

4 out of 5
Amazing city but our visit was spoiled by all of the Celebrity excursion buses turning up at the same venues at the same time = chaos! Surely this could be better planned?

Hong Kong

2 out of 5
Astonishing place, we did a nighttime tour to see the lights on Hong Kong island from Kowloon. Such a shame about the Coronavirus virtually closing the place down after we left.

Nha Trang, Vietnam

5 out of 5
Beautiful port of call, so much to see and an excellent excursion with a hilarious guide who was delighted to practice his excellent English on us!

Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam Did not visit port

Been before and the 2 hour plus bus journey to get there was not a positive experience.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Slowed by immigration and understandable Coronavirus concerns but not an issue for us.

Glad you enjoyed. We are leaving on February 29th and yes the virus is on our minds also but we are going.

I also feel the same way about food in both the buffet and main dining room that they are trying to push us to the specialty restaurants.
