Review summary

Great cruise, we will come back and do it again. Hopefully, next time we will get to do the helicopter flight to the glacier and experience the dogsledding in Juneau.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Once we worked out where we were meant to go, the embarkation process went extremely smoothly. We just wish the border control guy processing our ESTA Visas was more engaging. He seemed as though he didn’t want to be there and that it was just a job.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were offered a wide variety of food and for my wife and I, we have no complaints. However, there was only a few choices for people who are vegetarian or vegan. Would like to see more choices to cater for these people.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There wasn’t a lot that I wanted to do, although there was plenty of choices of things being offered.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was top notch. I don’t normally enjoy the ship stage shows, but on this ship they were very entertaining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone who served us in one way or another, were so happy to help and made us feel special.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is well maintained, but I think it will benefit from the refit when it goes into dry dock next year.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We would have liked a power outlet in the ensuite for shaving and styling our hair. We had the best cabin attendant, Aristotle, who did a superb job cleaning and tidying our cabin.

Ship tip

Just cruise with an open mind and don’t have any expectations. Everything from then on will be a bonus.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
We didn’t have enough time in some of the ports of call. However, apart from that I couldn’t fault the choices.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Would have liked a lot longer time to enjoy all that was offered.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
Great choice, although we would have liked to have had more time.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Heaps to see and plenty of time to get around to most things. The only downer for us was the weather as our shore excursion got cancelled. It was going to be the highlight of the cruise, flying in a helicopter onto a glacier and then to experience the dogsledding. However, stuff happens and we got to see other amazing things.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We felt as though we had gone back in time and loved our time here. We did a ship shore excursion White Pass Rail and Highlights of Skagway tour on a coach up to White Pass and then boarded a train the White Pass Rail back to Skagway. In Skagway we came across this coffee shop between 5th and 6th on Broadway called the BBQ Shack, where we enjoyed this amazing cinnamon bun and a coffee.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska Did not visit port

This is where we disembarked the ship. Didn’t get to see anything in this port as we went straight to Anchorage Airport.
