Review summary

Also did the 9B Taste of Alaska Land tour prior to the cruise. It was great to get to taste many of the products of Alaska (Salmon in Anchorage, Birch Syrup and Craft Beer in Talkeetna, Eskimo Ice Cream) The bus ride got to be too long at times. The Denali Lodge was the biggest disappointment. Cabin was really cramped. Food at the Burger Barn was unpleasant and cold. Seeing Mt Denali at sunrise from Talkeetna was the highlight.

Entertainment

The performance group was just so-so. Many times they were out of key. Second comedian was really bad - not funny at all.

Ship tip

The balcony rooms are well worth the extra money - especially the Concierge Class. If you need anything, ask. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Captain Alex is a riot. Rhea, Artika and Selzer were fantastic!

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

4 out of 5
Not much to do here besides board the ship. Hats off to Celebrity for making the boarding process a breeze.

Juneau, Alaska

Had to venture back several streets to find the local shops. Map supplied by Celebrity only shows the "Company" stores. Whale watching was terrific. After seeing Hubbard glacier, Mendenhall glacier was n't as impressive

Skagway, Alaska

Again, had to walk several blocks from the main street to find the local stores. Excursion was canceled due to high winds. Booked on the White Pass train instead which was good.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Because Icy Strait Point only has one building with stores - local and company stores were mixed. Went on a bear search with "Bear1", local cultural leader for Tlinket Raven clan. Great stories of the area and we got great pictures of a momma bear and her two cubs.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Really disappointed with how commercial it looks. All of the brochures highlight the really colorful historic buildings, but they are several blocks back after a lot of commercial buildings. The sales people were coming out in the street trying to sell us stuff.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

3 out of 5
It's a city. Getting off the ship was a breeze. Finding our bags and customs was easy. Getting a taxi took a long time. Stanley Park was OK. The "Vancouver Seawall" was a disappointment.
