Review summary

When you hear them say Alaska is a once in a life time experience, they are correct. I could write endlessly about my week long Alaskan cruise. It was full of unique and wonderful experiences. If you love nature, animals, gorgeous breathtaking views of mountains, amazing forests, glaciers, streams and adventure. You have to go to alaska. I wish I had gone earlier in my life. I will definetly go to Alaska again next year. This time I am going in August when the salmon will be spawning.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska Did not visit port

Picked up the cruise at this port. Did not spend much time there, took the train from Anchorage to Seward. However we did visit a woderful aquarium in Seward . The aquarium helps injured or abandoned sea animals like otters, sea lions, puffins and much more. One animal that stood in my mind was a orphaned baby sea otter. The baby must have been in the pool because the staff was rubbing the otter down with a towel lovingly. Then they used the hair drier to finish the job. The otter baby was loving the attention , rolling around happily on its back and receiving a lot of love from its caregiver. Adorable, everyone watching was smitten.

Loved it. We booked 8 mile bicycle ride to mendelbaum glacier. The ride was nice and the glacier was beautiful. Hiked a couple miles round trop to the glacier. There is a gigantic water fall next to the glacier , it was amazing. Many hiking trails around the glacier . One one such trail we watch a female black bear eat flowers by a small stream. There was a ranger there watching too, she said was around 1 year old. We happened to be on a wooden bridge about 12 feet from the bear. There were about 15 people watching the bear eat. The bear had no interest in the humans watching and just continued to eat her lunch of flowers.
