Would not sail on another Celebrity ship and would not recommend them to anyone.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Getting on the ship was great.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining room service was slow. Food in specialty restaurant, Tuscan, was cold when first presented. In all honesty, they did rectify the issue, but it was a turn off given how much you pay for the specialty dining experience.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools and jacuzzi were very good…not a lot of kids. Unfortunately the ship made it very difficult to play other games as we had difficulty finding out where to pay for bingo cards, and other games. Hot Glass was an interesting opportunity.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Comedian was great! Shows were good
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Room steward cleaned the room after 6pm each day…a little late! When we finally disembarked, the staff rolled my wheelchair-bound wife to the curb and wanted to literally DUMP her on the curb because they wanted their wheelchair back immediately. They didnt event want to wait for our transportation to arrive. Even the supervisor was reluctant to assist. Very sad how they treat disabled people.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Cabin floors were not cleaned thoroughly; pink mold in bathroom drawers.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Entire ship was overdue for an overhaul. Items in cabin were previously broken and unprofessionally screwed to the wall; maintenance crews were working on painting the deck rails & walls outside out cabin the entire cruise making it unusable…paint and paint chips all over the place.
Horrible experience with disembarkation. After pushing my wheelchair-bound wife offThe gantry and into the ship terminal, they wanted to literally “DUMP” her out of the wheelchair onto the curb because they wanted their wheelchair back immediately. They couldn’t wait 10 minutes for our transportation to arrive. Even the supervisor was initially unwilling to assist. I can’t believe this is how Celebrity treats disabled passengers!
I’m interested if your wife incurred an injury while onboard? If she is wheelchair bound where was her normal wheelchair? It seems Celebrity provided you a service by escorting you through the terminal and to the curb - that seems quite accommodating to me. There may have been additional passengers requiring assistance who also had transportation booked. It seems you are judging the entire experience on one event.
My very first cruise was on Equinox last September, and I loved every moment of it. I do hope your next cruise will be so much better! Thank you for telling about your experience.
Captains and crews changes and can definitely affect the shipboard experience. We’ve cruised with Celebrity three time and thoroughly enjoyed our experiences on the Summit and Infinity, but the Equinox left us expecting more too.
Just my2cents was on Equinox Sep 24 2023 everything was great. Yes there was flecks of paint on balcony painting s and staining/varnishing on top deck and a drawer in cabin had missing screw didn't close but I found it and fixed AND AT MDR 1 meal was a small portion and just ok . Would sail her again in a heartbeat
I went on Equinox in 2019 and had great experience. Went again in 2022 and it was night and day. Food took a definite downward turn. The ship appeared very haggard. Rust and peeling paint on outside areas. Furniture in cabin obviously worn, with Formica delaminating in several places. Sailed on Apex this year, and it was totally different, but of course Apex is almost brand new.
My husband was in a wheelchair and they pushed all the way down to get a cab back to Fort Lauderdale airport for us. Food and everything was amazing. Sailed September 30th 2023. Going on celebrity again in 4 weeks.
I I'll also add my cruise was in 2019, pre-pandemic. I believe their experience is related to Celebrity's downgraded services. However, if you are in The Retreat, you'll get better service; it does not appear this cruise was sailed in a suite.
My first cruise on Equinox was amazing and I took over a thousand pictures. I think the reviewer *maybe* had too high expectations; but since we don't know their cruising history to its hard to tell where their experience is coming from. Maybe they'll enjoy the next one on another line. Also the season makes a difference. I leaned that Summer time on big ships is not good for adults who want peace and relaxation; and December is wet & cold in the Caribbean.
