This was a anniversary/family reunion cruise for us. We were not very excited about cruising the Caribbean (first time) and the cruise ports confirmed this for us. Sailing with Celebrity more than made up what the the ports lacked. The ship and crew were excellent in every way. This was our second time on Celebrity and the rest of our family's first time. They are now converts to the Celebrity brand.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had expedited service at embarkation. We were checked on as a group and immediately boarded the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food in the main dining was excellent. Priyan, our head waiter had recommendations for us every night. We had our anniversary dinner at the Tuscan Grill. The staff was excellent in their food recommendations. They brought us extra food items to try because they did not want us to miss out on all the great food choices.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I tried to play pickleball, but it was always too windy. At least they offered it. We love trivia, and there were at least three opportunities per day to play and sometimes more. The pools were nice, but always too crowded.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We weren't really impressed by the stage shows, but had a blast at karaoke, live band karaoke, and the silent disco activities.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff on Celebrity was second to none. Our dining room staff, Priyan, Oralia, Felipe and Errol were always attentive and engaging. They always greeted us with a smile and had fantastic food recommendations. Harmoko our room attendant asked us everyday if we needed anything extra and always had our room clean and tidy. Kadek and Madalina at the Martini Bar remembered our names after the first night and always had our drinks ready.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Equinox is a very nice ship and it was always clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was a typical inside cabin. It suited our needs. It was always very clean.
Ship tip
We always prefer select dining to traditional. Sometimes dinner took longer and I'm glad we didn't have to be out because another seating was about to take place.
Due to coronavirus threat, DR port authorities didn't clear our ship until late in the day. By that time, the captain had already made the decision to leave.
