Average compared to other cruise ships we've been on. Ports were below average. But, to be fair, the only reason we took this cruise was to see Mayan ruins. The other ports really didn't matter to us.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We were in the Concierges class cabin with expedited embarkation. It really didn’t seem to make any difference but it was still well organized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was really hit and miss. But, overall I was very disappointed in the food. I had been told by many people that Celebrity has some of the best food of almost all cruises. The main dining room did have a better quality of food, which is strange because it comes out of the same kitchen. The desserts were grim. Cakes very dry and sorbet was like eating flavored ice. I’ve learned that food quality really can range from ship to ship in the same cruise line and that it seems to depend on the chef. You can’t judge the food from just which cruise line it is.
Room Service
5 out of 5
Very good food and service.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Only "activity" that we did was the trivia.
Jogging Track
1 out of 5
They shouldn't be allowed to call it a jogging track. It goes around the upper deck of the pool. So, unless you plan on jogging VERY early in the morning, forget it. Plus, I think it might take 100 laps to get a mile run in.
Entertainment
We don't do any of the activities.
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This was our first cruise on Celebrity. We’ve gone on several Princess and 2 Norwegian. The Celebrity cruise staff were a step above the others.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I like the layout of the ship. Common areas seemed clean. But, it didn't seem as well-maintained as I expected but I think this was due to the fact that it will be going into dry dock for refurb after the next cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We were in cabin 1076-Concierge class with balcony (which is not on the cabin number selection). The only negative was that one side of the bed is very close to the sliding glass window which makes it harder to get out of the bed for the person on that side of the bed.
Cruising is for us. We’ve taken 8 now. It’s the ports on this cruise we weren’t impressed with. I agree with HalfHand about getting away from the tourist areas. We’ve learned that the western Caribbean cruise is not for us. But, have really liked the Eastern. Doing a Southern soon. Have loved our cruises to the Med, Middle East, Panama and Alaska. It’s all about the destination for us. Some we’re going to like, others not so much. It’s all an adventure. Remember, this is MY personal experience.
I suggest leaving the port areas and seeing a bit of the locations you are visiting. All the places you listed are wonderful to visit if you get out of the sanitized/americanized areas.
